those are just beautiful! I have Sunbonnet Sue blocks that my Grannie made when I was young. I have made more Sue blocks and split the ones Grannie made up to make lapquilts for my sisters. I should have those done by Christmas this year. Next year I'll start on the ones for my dd's. That way everyone gets one of Grannie's squares in something that hopefully they will treausure.

Great idea!! Maybe I should share my blocks around the family in some kind of smaller project for all the great grandkids. Hmmmmmmmm..... more to think about.

I have churn dash blocks from my mother...hand pieced. Thinking I might "some day" make 4 somethings from them so each of her grandchildren could have a remembrance.

Grandmothers ufos

hey, this looks familiar. I also have ufos of my Grandmother, Mother , and oldest sister. they all had too many ideas. I have the same pattern done in navy and white, some are straight edged and others are really curvy. I have tried to set them together with navy and red don't know if I like it or not. Yours are beautiful.

What a wonderful treasure you have! I'm so glad for you. Leave it a while until you feel more confident, and then proceed. It will be a cherished quilt when you have it all done!

Wow, this post is a blast from the past. I started in in 2009. Those blocks have since bacame a dresser scarf and table toppers for my night stands. The project is far from perfect. The blocks were not very flat and I didn't unsew them, but all in all I enjoy seeing them in my bedroom.

Lisa: This is exactly how I became a quilter. I found quilt blocks and a quilt top that were my grandmother's. I was too nervous to do them myself so I had someone (who became a good friend) finish them for me. Then I ran to a fabric shop and took my first class. That was 4 years ago. I've made something like 30 quilts since then. So be warned. It could happen to you!
