Totally forgot to show you my latest finish, a quilt with different shades of grey and a white sashing. I made it for friends of mine and quilted the names of all four family members in the border, one in each corner. No photo of the names, though, but I took some other detail pics.

Thank you for looking, your comments are highly appreciated.

very pretty. it looks so elegant and simple with those colors!

yonnikka 08-06-2011 03:36 AM

Oh, I'm liking what I see: a perfect addition to your couch. Love the Understatement it makes: elegance, refinement; confidence! The delicate loopy stitching is so appropriate, with the narrow sashing. Thanks for sharing this beauty.

mimom 08-06-2011 03:37 AM

Very NICE! I love what you did with the binding. It is nice and masculine looking. I am going to have to start collecting greys.

Kitsapquilter 08-06-2011 03:58 AM

Love the quilt and flange type binding. Very elegant.

cuppi duke 08-06-2011 06:00 AM

I really like this quilt. It takes me back in time before everything was in color and life was simpler. Very contemporary and lovely.

ontheriver 08-06-2011 06:23 AM

Not a color combo I have ever seen before, but I like it.

This is just beautiful. I love the color grey. And the hint to color at the binding is just striking.

katkat1946 08-06-2011 06:52 AM

WOW!! Grey and white does not sound interesting but this is wonderful! Nice surprise and nice to see the effect. It's very peaceful, tasteful, even elegant.

QUILTNMO 08-06-2011 07:53 AM

very nice i hardly have any grey in my stash lol

PaperPrincess 08-06-2011 08:17 AM

Very elegant! Like the flange on the binding, and I'm totally going to steal that idea of delicate little loopy quilting in the sashing.

Mazda 08-06-2011 08:18 AM

I love that & I would have never thought of doing it. I am naturally drawn to bright colors, but that quilt is awesome!

GreatStarter 08-06-2011 08:20 AM

I love your color choices and placements! And love that extra little detail you added to the binding. Great job!

Kat

Well, when I talked my friend into making them a quilt, I wasn't sure how it would turn out. She wanted something to calm her down, b/c she calls herself a nervous person. When she told me, she wanted a grey quilt just with solids, I nearly went nuts inside. A draft in Quilt Pro showed a quilt which looked like a view into a TV before the invention of color TV, lol. No way, I told her and went shopping without her. The only limit of hers was "no paisley"-fabric, which was easy to obey b/c I didn't find any, lol. She wanted straight line quilting, which I wasn't able to do, so I came up with the little loops. Good luck, she loves it.

In the end, I guess, I reached my goal of an peaceful, calm but anything but boring quilt. Lesson learned: Don't ask too many questions if the person to answer hasn't any clue of fabric, sewing and quilts ;-).

If you made it to the end of this long story, congrats and thank you for your time and attention. Last not least, thank you so much for your kind comments, they make me feel proud :).

Isn't it strange how pretty and diverse a grey quilt can be....sort of like a well-taken black and white photograph.

It has texture and depth and even "color". Very nice!!
