Just one little corner of Hancocks of Paducah - I took this on Monday - it is of some of the 10 or more rows of BATIKS there. I bought 10 different one-half yard cuts of batiks. I was sure that the last time I was there that they would not cut less than one yard - but this time, they said that one-half yard cuts was the least that they cut. They were $9.98 per yard. So many that you absolutely could not decide which to get.

Wow!!!! So how much fabric did you buy?

NikkiLu 07-01-2010 04:20 PM

10 different 1/2 yard cuts = 5 yards @ $9.98 = $50.00

lalaland 07-01-2010 04:38 PM

You are so lucky to have such a nice Hancocks nearby. Ours closed 3 years ago, I really liked their fabric line.

charmpacksplus 07-01-2010 04:39 PM

Decisions! Decisions! Good thing I don't live close by. I'd be in there all day!

quiltinggirl 07-01-2010 04:40 PM

I envy you!! Glad you had a great time and were blessed with some nice fabric. :)

Pam 07-01-2010 04:55 PM

Hancock's is FUN!! If you can do it, try to go to the quilt show, then you can get stuff marked down!!!

Ginaky 07-01-2010 04:56 PM

This is not the Hancock's that closed near you--they are not part of the chain and the store in Paducah is the only one. And it is fabulous!!

RedGarnet222 07-01-2010 05:01 PM

Oh SuRe!! Rub it in!!! LOL! You lucky duck...

Pam 07-01-2010 05:25 PM

OK, EVERYONE can shop Hancock's of Paducah!! They do lots of internet and catalog sales. It is amazing when you go in there, the employees are going around with shopping carts and lists, gathering and cutting fabrics for orders.

If you can make it THAT far, let me know, I will make the 2 hour drive to show you around!

donna873 07-02-2010 03:44 AM

I am about 50 miles from hancocks of paducah and it is an awesome place to shop..and the employees are second to none. you don't have to go hunting down someone to help you, they are everywhere as are the cutting stations..love love love this place..one thing I can't understand is how NikkiLu got out of there with only spending $50.00.. I usually come out of there with at least $200 to $300 in fabric..I sat in the floor last night folding and admiring my latest shopping excursion to H of P.

donna873 01-13-2011 07:19 AM

it is a truly awesome quilt shop, if they don't have it, you probably don't need it lol

Jamiestitcher62 01-13-2011 09:37 AM

I just got my first Hancock's of Paducah catalog and thought I'd just received the Sears Christmas Wish Book. It's huge. I love how it's laid out and the prices are so reasonable. Truly a great online place to shop too.

quilter on the eastern edge 01-13-2011 09:43 AM

I'd be so addled that I would walk out empty-handed! I'd have to go back a second time -- such a chore... ;)

bunniequilter 01-13-2011 09:50 AM

OMG I'm gonna cry

donna873 01-13-2011 09:57 AM

I got a catalog when I was there last week, made DH drive so I could look at it, the I too received a catalog in the mail to put in the bathroom, so I can study all the fabrics and quilt they put in there.. oh my gosh, love it. And then you know you have to have a copy in the car if you get stuck in traffic or waiting on you DH while he is in the Gander Mountain in Paducah..

Ann L 01-13-2011 09:59 AM

We have a Hancock's in Durham, where I work so that makes it more accessabl for me. They have some pretty good sales as well.

donna873 01-13-2011 10:03 AM

This is not a regular Hancocks, this is privately owned, thier name just happens to be Hancock. they carry all the name brands, moda, benertex etc

Yes, correct - this is Hancocks of Paducah - the other chain of stores is just Hancocks Fabric. No comparison.

Mariposa 01-13-2011 10:31 AM

Wow! A person could get lost in that store!!

truer words have never been spoken, no comparison, when you go..don't drag you DH with you..go alone or with a friend who is as addicted to fabric as you are and plan on spending a couple of hours..also, remember to go in the back warehouse area where the restroom is to look at all the kits, jelly rolls, fat quarter bundles etc are..and the people who work there love the fabric as much as we do and will go wayyyy out of there way to help you..

Ann L 01-13-2011 01:26 PM

Well since I was confusing the two I think I will just go ahead and go to Mary Jo's in Gastonia, NC. What a store that is. They have also announced that they are putting in a fabric store in our old mall, can't wait to see which one. We really need one around here badly.

donna873 01-13-2011 01:29 PM

we just recently as of the first of january gotten a new quilt shop, they don't have a lot yet but promise to increase the inventory as they get going good..other than that the next shop is 85 miles away.. Hancocks of Paducah is about 150 miles from me, we have our rv abour 50 miles from paducah, nice day trip for me while hubby is fishing.

Halfsquare 02-01-2011 11:43 PM
