Started the hand applique in March....done last night with the last binding stitch

Machine quilting...on a domestic machine....

Applique patterned modified from one on www.fatcatpatterns.com

I really like having a hand stitching project going at the same time as machine ones so I can take it with me and work at kid events, etc.

Well I truly just love your quilt and the pattern. On the applique did you needle turn as you go around. I need a close up view of how you did the applique. Love the colors. Is this a pattern you can share or give us the name of the pattern company and or book. Lots of questions. Ha. Sorry. Just love the quilt. Especially since I am looking at snow snow snow out my Tn window.

Quite nice. Love the applique border & how it 'goes with'
the rest of the quilt.

its beautiful and thanks for posting the link where you found the pattern, I am working on a sampler quilt of my own design and found a wonderful strawberry applique block I am going to add to my quilt.

Thanks all! I really liked www.fatcatpatterns.com and she has some beautiful intricate BOMs for those that are advanced.

I have done raw edge in the past, but did like needle turn for this. I would like to do needle turn again on the flower basket pattern that someone here posted a while back....I even got the pattern! But I think I am going to work on a grandmother's flower garden for now as handwork.

Beautiful quilt.

I've decided that the block of the month I joined will be my "by hand" project. Though I have started to surprise myself by how much I can get done at the ice rink during practices.

Cheers, K

Your quilt is beautiful! I love doing needle turn applique. I started out with the Pacific Rim quilts which is a reverse, two fabric applique. I always need a "refresher" with each quilt. Nancy Chong has a great DVD with a dragonfly pattern that shows the whole process. It really helped me learn the technique. It's great for learning how to bind, too... but that's a whole other story!
You do gorgeous work... can you even call it work? It's playtime for me
Love the colors... love the quilt!

thanks!

I have the "herd of turtles" pattern by PR quilts that I got in Maui when we went last march as a 20th anniversary trip...along with material....but I am thinking of doing machine applique on that one rather than needle turn. We'll see!
