Hi Everyone!

I am just so dog-gone excited to try this new thread holder my brother made for me. He just delivered it today while visiting for lunch.

I had asked him a couple weeks ago to make something to hold my thread while machine embroidering. I was holding the thread in a glass and that worked ok for a while and then it would break the thread at some unexpected moment. So I was frustrated with the embroidering.

It isn't tried out yet... but, it looks perfect to me.

God bless brothers!

neat work and clever mind - great brother!

RedGarnet222 09-22-2011 02:00 PM

He is just a year older than me and has always been my male twin... LOL! Not really but, he is always making something. (mostly race and historic cars.)

We are pretty close as far as families go. Four of us live here in the Reno area. It sure makes it fun during the holidays.

Looks like he spent a lot of time and money on this! Copper tubing!! Walnut wood!! You really rate with your brother!! LOL!!

QuiltnNan 09-22-2011 02:34 PM

so nice of him to do that for you

Kitsie 09-22-2011 02:38 PM

Really nice! I need something like that for my Sidewinder to avoid the spool jumping off the peg that keeps collapsing.

Love the copper, but did you have to spray it with lacquer to make sure it won't, down the road, turn your thread green? Sure is pretty!

ljfox 09-22-2011 02:39 PM

I bet you could sell those!

Quiltinelaine 09-22-2011 04:08 PM

How wonderful: OHHH I miss my brother so much: He was not only my brother but a best friend: U R one lucky lady - I do the same w/my big thread spools (put them in a glass jar) so far it has worked but this invention looks GRRRREAT:

COYOTEMAGIC 09-22-2011 04:43 PM

RedGarnet222 09-22-2011 05:10 PM

Hi everyone... Thanks so much for the great comments.

I called my brother a minute ago to let him know there is some interest in the thread holder. He said he would make some after he finishes the race car this fall. He is amazing at the things he manufacter's.

I imagine that it will be into the winter though, he is a perfectionist. LOL!

Let me know if you are interested and I will hold your names until he makes them and let you know, ok?

To answer one person's question, yes it was clear coated all over.

I love it!

nls 09-22-2011 05:36 PM

Very nice--should be handy.

xsquilter 09-22-2011 05:49 PM

That is very nice. I had my hubby make me a similar thread holder but, shhhhh, don't tell him it's not as nice as your brother makes!

debbieumphress 09-22-2011 07:43 PM

I love it. It even matches the sewing machine lifters I make. If you sell them, I would like a few. Thanks for sharing this with us. I love to use large spools to sew. Talk to you soon. HUGS♥♥

lynnsim 09-23-2011 04:04 AM

That's a neat thread holder and a super brother.

emsgranny 09-23-2011 04:15 AM

You can put me down for one - just let me know price etc. my zip for mailing is 65101.

You are so lucky to have a brother that is so handy and for him to stop work on race car to make you one you must rate!! You know boys and their cars!!! I lost my brother a few years back - he was only 52 !!!! I miss him a great deal.

catladyquilts 09-23-2011 04:33 AM

bamamama 09-23-2011 04:47 AM

Looks like it will work great. I use a coffee cup to hold my large spools. Maybe he should patent it. I'd buy one.

Tweety2911 09-23-2011 05:21 AM

Yes, thank God for wonderful brothers! Beautiful thread holder and will last forever!

lizzyq 09-23-2011 05:26 AM

annthreecats 09-23-2011 06:28 AM

That thread holder is so cool. I love it when I present my big brother with a challenge like that. He made me some extra large knitting needles from 1" dowel sticks. They work well. I knitted him a rug with 13 strands of yarn. He loved it. He said it was super soft to stand on. I need to make him another.

Dianna77984 09-23-2011 07:20 AM

What a wonderful brother!!

grannypat7925 09-23-2011 08:49 AM
