Happy Valentine's Day!

2 Attachment(s)
I made this runner for a client who asked for a Valentine's themed pattern with hearts, mostly red, with black and white background fabric. Then she decided she didn't want it after all, grrr. I love it though, and if it doesn't sell, it's going on my dining room table. So there! Anyway, thanks for looking and Happy Valentine's Day!

(Scrappy back, as usual)

Diane007 02-14-2013 01:45 PM

very nice red and white

Jingle 02-14-2013 02:28 PM

Very pretty, can't see why she didn't want it.

MamaInRed 02-14-2013 02:50 PM

Very Nice ! This is why I would not do well sewing for customers. You give them what they ask for & then they don't want it.

Sapphire_Rae 02-14-2013 03:18 PM

Very nice! Would look great on my table!

sewbizgirl 02-14-2013 03:27 PM

It's great... How rude that your customer let you make it and then didn't buy it. A non-fundable deposit would have been nice. Harumph.

QUILTNMO 02-14-2013 03:48 PM

very nice!!!!!

QUILTNMO 02-14-2013 03:49 PM

very nice!!!!!

Sewfine 02-14-2013 04:35 PM

That is very pretty. Don't know why she would not want it. When people ask me to make stuff for them, they have to pay a deposit; which is half off what it cost. The deposit is non refundable.

djmat 02-14-2013 04:47 PM

Very Yve St Laurant, congrats!

Jim's Gem 02-14-2013 05:00 PM

Beautiful runner

tracibug 02-14-2013 05:01 PM

I'd keep it :-)

mighty 02-14-2013 06:33 PM

Really nice runner!

mom-6 02-14-2013 07:19 PM

Definitely a keeper!

fleurdelisquilts 02-14-2013 07:53 PM

Definitely going with non-refundable deposits for any new customers. Only my older customers who have been so wonderful in the past get the benefits of pay-on-delivery. You should consider that, also. This table runner is really cute. I'd keep it too!

gabeway 02-15-2013 05:41 AM

Great job!

I always collect 50% up front when the order is for a full-size quilt (baby, on up). Since the runners are smaller and generally easy to sell, I don't collect a deposit ahead of time, plus this client has been a pretty faithful customer and I'm afraid of rocking the boat. However, this is the third time she has ordered a runner and then decided against it, so I guess I'm going to have to change my policy. Dang.

I like it! Maybe you should ask for a deposit in the future? At least you wouldn't be out 100% of your money that way...

nannyrick 02-15-2013 11:22 AM

That is so pretty!!! Thanks for sharing.

twinkie 02-16-2013 05:09 AM

That is so cute. I know they loved it.

A1penny 02-16-2013 05:15 AM

Maybe it would have been a good idea to draw out the design first and show her, and let her help with the fabric selection. And then, get a NONREFUNDABLE deposit for the table runner.

2manyhobbies 02-16-2013 05:40 AM

Well, she's missing out on a beautiful piece.

solstice3 02-16-2013 05:41 AM

Love it!!!

I learned a hard lesson while sewing for the public. Didn't get many bad checks but I did have several people change their mind and choose not to take the item. The worst one was a wedding dress that had quite a bit of beadwork on it. Full skirt with lace overlay....she eloped and failed to tell me! I did donate the dress to a charity for girls that couldn't afford formal or wedding gowns. Lesson learned? Well maybe!

I've always found that if you let go of things that don't serve you well, no matter how scary...that something MUCH better will find it's way in! Good luck on releasing the drains on your very nice work.

imnywoman 02-16-2013 08:42 AM

Lovely, looks like you're the winner here.

MargeD 02-16-2013 08:46 AM

Very pretty and I kow how you feel about customers changing their minds after they ask for a "specific" quilted item, but keep it and enjoy it for yourself. Nice pattern and choice of fabrics.

Oh my goodness!! I can't imagine, a wedding dress??! It's not like it's a one-size fits all, like a quilt! That was so nice of you to donate it.

javin22 02-16-2013 11:42 AM

Cute. Love the fabrics.

sewdamncute 02-16-2013 06:59 PM
