I made this to give to my daughter and new son-in-law , they're getting married May,21.
Along with paying for a big wedding of course lol I wanted to give her something made by us .
So I made this and her Daddy is making a shadow box out of oak to put it in for hanging.
But I WILL NEVER try this again !! I just thank GOD I didn't have to make a big quilt !!! lol
But I don't think it's to BAD for a beginner on quilting !!!
I bit off more than I could chew on this project tho !!
I am definitely getting better !!!

Just so happens their fav colors are pink & blue !!

I think you did a great job! I have a friend who has been quilting for 10 years and she is pulling her hair out on a double wedding ring quilt! She keeps threatening to give it to me to finish for her....no way!

sewmuchmore 03-28-2011 07:36 AM

Amazing work, pat yourself on the back well done! I can only make it in my dreams   She will love it.

Thank you !!!
I know exactly how she feels because none of the arks seem to be long enough !!! I had to find a you-tube video to watch that helped me sooooo much !!!
Because I had no clue what to do when they didn't match up lol
But that was my first and last !! Took me 3 days!!!!
I am to stubborn to let it get me down and I will NOT give up !!! lol

In their eyes it will be a masterpiece! Well done.

There is now a fusible way of making double wedding ring which makes it much easier. It's the only way I make them now.

QuiltnNan 03-28-2011 08:14 AM

RDM 03-28-2011 08:17 AM

Thank you !! I just started quilting in Dec. when I joined here ..asking for HELP !!!

reeskylr 03-28-2011 08:59 AM

Beautiful. I've never tried a wedding ring, because it is very tedious and hard to do. My mom loved making them and just sewing them all by hand. eeks!

I like the idea of guests signing it though.

stichinluvr 03-28-2011 09:02 AM

Looks wonderful. I'm sure they will treasure it. Congratulations on the new "son".

SuzyQ 03-28-2011 09:04 AM

What a perfect gift. The fact that you and your husband are making something by hand will mean so much and will last forever.

jillaine 03-28-2011 11:12 AM

For the life of me I can't find Patrice J's DWR tute. I'm sorry!

happymrs 03-28-2011 11:24 AM

cindit 03-29-2011 04:18 AM

Great job!! The only way to get better is to bite off more than you "thought" you could chew.

Krystyna 03-29-2011 04:23 AM

So beautiful. It looks hard, but you did a great job and I'm sure they'll love it. The shadow box sounds really terrific.

GORGEOUS! You did such a great job! Oh, and I LOVE that you and her Daddy have a hand in making her such a precious gift! This will be so treasured!

Grandma Phyl 03-29-2011 06:17 AM

I'm just finishing a DWR Queen size for my granddaughters wedding in June I'm now doing the quilting. It went together very easy but must say was very time consuming, also made pillow shams.

AngieS 03-29-2011 06:18 AM

That's very pretty. Oh, and I too live in KY. :)

debcavan 03-29-2011 06:19 AM

It is so pretty. Even though it was hard, you learned a lot
