Of course this is a Ricky Tims design, but I've had this floral fabric since 1995. I've made 2 other wall hangings from it which I didn't particularly like. I REALLY LOVE THIS ONE!! What would you call it?

Wow! Absolutely gorgeous!

I am in the process of trying to make my first Convergence, and read in the book, you can use floral, but I could not picture what it would look like - the answer - beautiful!

Snoopy questions,
1-how big is the repeat on your fabric?
2-did you use a solid black, solid yellow, the background and the floral as a 4 patch to begin?

Quilting Fran 04-04-2011 01:41 PM

Very nice I love the colors in the flora print. Good job.

I don't mind your questions at all !! The repeat is 24". I used 4 fabrics for the HC center. The black is solid cotton sateen. The gold is cotton sateen jacquard. The light print is plain cotton. I started with an 18" square of each fabric for the HC center. The finished center measures 23 1/2". The whole thing is 36".
It is easy to do. The hardest thing is matching up all the seams when you do the second time of sewing strips. It would be easier to re-press the seam allowances so they can butt up together, then pin each seam. I tried to sew without pinning, and some of my seams don't match.
You can't really see the jacquard in this close-up.

Wow. This is one of the nicest HC that I have seen. I love it on-point. So many are done with batiks and are so busy, yours is very calming.

Beautiful work Ann! The HC is gorgeous, and I love the setting triangles with their lovely mini-four patches. Beautiful quilting too!!

Kappy 04-04-2011 07:15 PM

Was this a separate pattern or is it in the book? I seem to be quite smitten with this one. What was the level of difficulty? Once again, great job!

LatticeWork? That's what it reminds me of. Beautiful quilt!

jitkaau 04-05-2011 03:22 AM

I have thought about doing a convergence but thought that only Ricky Tims' fabric would look the best with it. Obviously not. This has given me inspiration to get some stuff out of my stash and start slashing. Thanks for posting.

If you ever want to see a large selection of results from a specific pattern, just Google it "harmonic convergence quilt" - and click on images.

Always include the word "quilt" in the seach because otherwise you can get some really strange results. ;-)

You can try to the same search at webshots, snapfish , flickr, and a pretty good number of results.

It's a great way to see a large variety of different settings, layouts and border solutions.
