So I checked out that lady's sale...oh my word, she had SO MUCH STUFF. Bins and bins of fabrics, magazines, kits, patterns, books...it was like sweet deal quilter's heaven. I made myself stick to a budget, and only allowed myself to bring $60 to spend...and all told, I got tons of batting, at least 18m of fabric (much of that in FQ's with a few 1-3m pieces thrown in there too), and a stack of magazines for my $60! I easily could have spent that 60 on just one of those pieces of batting in my LQS! CRAZY! She's going to keep on selling through the weekend and most of next week...I think I might have to go back!!!

amma 10-02-2010 08:19 AM

quilt addict 10-02-2010 08:27 AM

Great job. I would of been hard pressed to stick to a budget. Congratulations. ....Did you pee your pants?

deema 10-02-2010 08:32 AM

LOL No...I did not pee my pants, thankfully. But I was almost excited enough for it.

I was only able to stick to my budget by only bringing that much cash and leaving my plastic at home. HAHAHAHAHA

But I think I will go back though...which sort of defeats the purpose, I guess...but man, it's hard to resist.

RedGarnet222 10-02-2010 08:38 AM

Go deema! You really got some nice things for your money. I admire that you set a budget and stuck with it. Nice haul!

CarrieAnne 10-02-2010 08:39 AM

Have fun.. Wow I envy you... I would go back and buy it all, glad you stuck to your budget... :)

Gramof6 10-02-2010 08:57 AM

WOW! You did Great!!! It would be hard to stick to a budget with that many goodies. Proud that you handled that. I hope you get to go back if you are wanting to. Maybe ask her if you get a discount since you are a return visitor? LOL Can't hurt.

mygirl66 10-02-2010 09:18 AM

YEAH! I love it when you can find good deals like that! You will have fun playing with your new treasures this weekend!

Prism99 10-02-2010 09:34 AM

Wow! I would probably have spent half-a-year's budget at that sale! You did GREAT!

Bluebonnet Sue 10-02-2010 09:47 AM

What fun! Looks like you did well. She will really want to deal as she gets toward the end of the day. That's when you can really make a deal. The "I'll give you X for everything that is left"...kind of deal. That is IF someone else has not already made her that offer.

belmer 10-02-2010 10:02 AM

Woweeeeeee.... You go girl! I think I would have bought it all.... But I'm proud of you for sticking to your budget.
Good for you. Now you can go have fun in your sewing room and sort through it, Thats the BEST part.

costumegirl 10-02-2010 11:29 AM

You did really well!!!!! What town do you live in Ont? Did you find her ad on Kijiji or Craig's?

I keep looking at the ads in my area but nothing that I can use.

Good Luck if yu go again tomorrow!! :)

Shemjo 10-02-2010 11:51 AM

Good for you! I think I would go back, but then they see me coming! I am a sucker for good fabric at an affordable price. I went to a LQS "friends sale" where people had tables set up and lots of goodies. I overspent, but I really did behave myself. I bought some stuff for my quilting ladies at church, and a pieced top that I will use for a baby quilt that I need really soon! I did enjoy myself, but I am glad I left when I did. There was a FW there for $250.00. I asked, but I am not in the market for another FW.

CoriAmD 10-02-2010 12:15 PM

LOL!!!! Patty, you made me laugh at your comment about puddles! It's been raining here all day so no one would notice if it was here!

Not yet...the soonest that I am able to is Wednesday, so I'm going to give her a call on Wed morning and see if she still has anything left, she's selling until Thursday, but quilting isn't very big around here, so I won't be surprised if she still has quite a bit (seriously, she had TONS of stuff). I'll see what she has left, and maybe make an offer on everything.
