Oh no, I believe there is no such thing as a mistake in a quilt, only a new design opportunity. You see, I found it made the quilt interesting and it did not take away from the beauty of the quilt. I thought perhaps she had intended that to be the part that covered the pillow to distinguish it from the remainder of the quilt. In any case the quilt is lovely and she should never consider it to be a mistake. I'm sure her quilt has inspired many, it made me want to make one, maybe alternate direction in each row or even every other block. Please extend our thanks to her for sharing.

That is an interesting result. I like how she quilted it also. Not overdone.

Yes, in our group we tend not to "overquilt" the quilts. Don't understand me wrong, the quilting on most of the quilts I'm looking at on the board is just absolutly awesome, it looks great but we don't have any quilting machines and if we give it away to quilt it just costs a fortune and most of us ladies really want to make the quilts we make "our own" all the way through. I for myself haven't even got a machine with programs for embroidery, fancy stitching, etc. so I mainly do the stitch in the ditch or something easy like that and I haven't had the courage to try free-hand :) but probably will get to it step by step one day :).... and I personally feel if there is lots and lots of quilting on a quilt, it tends to get stiffer and probably heavier too. I have won one in a raffle some years ago and this is more quilted than I would do it and this is just the feeling I got about it but I still love the quilt I won :)
