Have you ever bought a piece of fabric 'cos you love it ....

and then found you didn't know what to do with it? I have more times than I care to mention but there was one particular fabric that I paid an arm and a leg for, a yard of Kaffe Fasset Paper Fans fabrics : http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...ansfabrics.jpg

Well I found a perfect pattern for it just by accident. I think some of you may remember me mentioning a really good and well known quilter who lives her on the Island, Angelika Monks, originally from Germany.

On my first patchwork class she gave me a pattern that she had put together for newbies but I didn't get around to making it then but I have some really new NEWBIES at present and this is a foolproof pattern for them, but oh so useful when you have a striking fabric.

Of the focal fabric cut 4.5" strip WOF (Width of Fabric)
Of the toning fabric cut 2 x 1.5"strips WOF

Sew, with 1/4" seams a 1.5 strip either side of the 4.5"

Press and cut 6.5" pieces of the strip, giving you 6.5" sqaures!

Rotate every other one 180 degrees and stitch together and this is what you get, I call it the Brick Pattern. :-)

Sometimes a little goes a long way: I'd cut any scraps up into small pieces and add them to scrappy quilts--it would be a great fabric for adding some spice to a quilt.

It will be very striking when completed. Thank you for the directions.

Very pretty indeed.

And if you will come in my sewing room with me, I will show several pieces of fabric that I have bought, just because I loved it!!!!!!! I think that is how stashes get started. LOL
