I have the same kind that my father in law made for my mother in law. They both died in 1989. I don't use them because I don't do much hand quilting. I have quilted on them while my mother in law was stll living. Nice memories.

My grandfather made this quilt frame for my grandmother years ago. He died in 1972, so it's at least 40 years old. I don't remember seeing my grandmother use it, but my mom used it quite a bit. I just thought since everyone is showing their vintage machines, you'd be interested in seeing my quilt frame.

I added the cross pieces because those have been lost. They are just 2 x 2 inch pieces of wood.

I was wondering if anyone else has ever seen one like this?

I recently bought a frame like this at an Estate Sale, except it has 2 shorter boards and the cut out on one end is curved. I wasn't sure how to set it up, so I am glad I saw yours.

Hi,

I am the proud newest owner of a craigslisted frame like that. It is now in Needham, MA but before me was out on Cape Cod and before that was part of a quilting group in Concord, MA I believe. I am attempting to add rails, and a carriage and a Juki to interface with it so I can medium arm quilt. My two center poles are approx. 2"x3" but my outer two wooden poles are round with cogs on both sides. I haven't set it up yet but I bought new canvas to make new leaders for it. Yours is the only one I have ever seen kind of like mine. I am going to try and insert pics.

Yes, I have seen one like it. My grandmother had it set up in the livingroom/bedroom at their old farm house back in the 1950's.

I have seen some like that, fairly simple, but they work just fine

That sounds like the old clothes rack we had in the kitchen when I was young; it was for drying washing and mother would wind it up and down when needed; they were the days when we had little old tin bath which also hung up and came down when needed; water had to be boiled in kettle!!
