I just finished this quilt using patterns from Pacific Rim Quilt Company (Nancy Chong's patterns). The blocks are hand appliqued and the quilting is done on my longarm. I used a wool batting for the first time (Hobbs Tuscany wool batting). The top was finished almost a year ago, but I wanted to practice for a while on the longarm before quilting it.

nativetexan 10-28-2010 02:05 PM

lovely!!! are those where you have the positive and negative, so you get two for each block pattern? I almost got some at a quilt show recently.

Kitsapquilter 10-28-2010 02:06 PM

Oh My!!! Isn't this a beauty! Great job. Something I will probably never get done in my life-time.

No, these are done with needle turn hand applique. As I understand it, the method where you get two uses raw edge machine applique.

MadQuilter 10-28-2010 02:19 PM

GOR-GEOUS!!!! I love the colors.

Theresa 10-28-2010 02:22 PM

Beautiful work...bet you are so happy with the results. Love the fabric used for the applique. Kind reminds me of the koa wood there. Very unique. What a keepsake.

You did an absolutely marvelous job on this. I picked up those patterns last month in Maui but haven't even started on any yet. I will have to keep your picture to refer back to. Great job on the quilting as well.
Thanks,

coastienest 10-28-2010 07:48 PM

One to be proud of. It is gorgeous. I don't know if I could have been as patient as you waiting to use it. I keep saying I will learn to quilt myself and then each new quilt I make, I don't want to ruin, so out to the longarm it goes. I give you credit for being patient and taking the time to learn. Enjoy!!!!

Linda1 10-28-2010 08:04 PM
