"Healing" Quilt

1 Attachment(s)
This is a quilt that came to me in a dream while I was recovering from surgery. It is my view of healing from the pain. I quilted it in a tight spiral to mimic the ripples in a pond to show how it did get better. It is the first time a design came to me. Hopefully not the last.

QuiltnNan 09-13-2015 10:35 AM

very impressive... hope your design streak continues

jenOSU 09-13-2015 10:50 AM

Very impressive and inspiring. I love how the quilting echoes the recovery too.

Jeanne S 09-13-2015 10:57 AM

Very creative and expressive--tells a story! Glad you are better now.

I can see exactly what you wanted to say with this quilt. Hopefully it helped with your recovery. You're very talented.

Very modern and I am glad you gave the back story on it as it makes more of an impact and helps the viewer gain insight on your design. If you ever show this quilt you need to give the back story on the little explanation card that they often put on the quilts at the show. I like the echo spiral quilting too.

tesspug 09-13-2015 12:07 PM

Very clever. I love the quilting, there are so many quilts that could use ripples like that.

QuiltingVagabond 09-13-2015 12:30 PM

I really like this one!

Tartan 09-13-2015 12:31 PM

Well done!

dunster 09-13-2015 12:46 PM

Wonderful quilt. Somehow things that come to me in a dream never make sense in the real world. Glad you were able to make your dream a reality, and hope you are recovering quickly and completely from your surgery.

Thanks everyone. I am pretty proud of it as I really feel like it captures my pain. I had my knees replaced and while it was (for me) VERY painful, it has gotten better and I can do more now than I have in years.

Here is the back.

red-warrior 09-13-2015 02:03 PM

Very unique and lovely! I too hope you dream up some more designs!

#1piecemaker 09-13-2015 03:23 PM

Well done! I've had those kinds of dreams. Some of my best laid plans came from dreams!

cjsews 09-13-2015 04:32 PM

Very nice. I can see where it went from the stress and pain to calm peace

Homespun 09-13-2015 05:59 PM

Wow, hope you are well.

bailey 09-13-2015 06:18 PM

Very impressive. To me it says "Coming out of the darkness into the light". Beautiful quilt.

joyce888 09-13-2015 06:23 PM

Very unusual - I like it!

Kitsie 09-14-2015 08:36 AM

I think many of us can relate to those dreams and you have caught them exactly! Getting them onto fabric and thread is an awesome feat and its a beautiful quilt!

Mariposa 09-14-2015 08:45 AM

Very unique! Neat that you were able to make it from your dream. Nicely done!

tessagin 09-14-2015 08:51 AM

Great looking quilt!

QUILTNMO 09-14-2015 10:17 AM

very nice!!!

zozee 09-14-2015 10:32 AM

Outstanding. I can see the dark, angry, harsh colors bound up in the corner, a gradual relaxing to good days and bad days, then brighter, breathing colors to calm in the opposite corner. Hope all your days are good knee days now.keep dreaming up quilts!

GailG 09-14-2015 10:51 AM

Wonderful design and such an inspiration to those who are in pain.

busy fingers 09-14-2015 12:44 PM

You have certainly captured "pain". That is exactly how it is - all hot and tense then the release and finally peace.

Great work on the design and colours that you have used.

Monika 09-14-2015 03:46 PM

Thanks everyone. It is good to know that others can see the pain I felt in it. You never really know if you captured what you want.

Grandma Peg 09-14-2015 08:59 PM

Great job!

Plumtree 09-15-2015 01:51 AM

I love modern quilts and this one is terrific. I hope your next dream is a sweet one and pain free for your next quilt design

WisWis 09-15-2015 02:57 AM

Very impressive-love the idea. Hope you're recovering well.

twinkie 09-15-2015 03:32 AM

Great that you were able to make your dream materialize in this quilt.

nunnyJo 09-15-2015 03:56 AM

nice, should b called "Dream" quilt

EmiliasNana 09-15-2015 04:58 AM

Normally I don't like modern art, but with your explanation, I totally "get it", and love it. Even the ripple quilting "makes sense". Wish some of the great artists could explain what they were thinking at the time!

marshaKay 09-15-2015 05:04 AM

Love this quilt, Monika! It shows just how I feel when my migraine headaches stike. From the screaming meamies to the calm after the meds kick in. Brilliant!!!!!!!!!

ManiacQuilter2 09-15-2015 06:58 AM

I am not a fan of modern quilts but yours is very stunning. Job well done.
