Hearth runner

6 Attachment(s)
I keep a blanket spread out on our hearth whenever grandkids visit to prevent bumped heads on sharp bricks and ER visits! So I decided to make something a little more appealing than an old blanket.

Thanks for looking!

Very pretty!

Great hearth runner! My sister when she was little was twirling around and fell and gashed her head on the stone hearth. At the emergency room we tried to tell the nurse she had cut her heard on the stone hearth. She looked puzzled because she thought we said, stone harp.:D

Love your idea of runner on fireplace location.. Also, great way to use your fabric pieces/

Very beautiful hearth cover. You did a great job and so attractive. My son has a scar on his forehead from playing ball in the living room and hitting his head on our brick fireplace that looks just like yours. Don't know why I didn't think of making something like you did. How inventive you are!

Very nicely done and such a good idea. It looks great.
S&H green stamps are something I remember from high school. I got a set of pyrex bowls for my mother by saving the stamps. (She probably got them when she bought groceries). I still have those bowls and use them all the time. They were from the early 1970's. Thanks for the memories.

Fantastic idea! I have a raised hearth that needs covering like that and grandkids that I need to protect. Think I'll get started right now! Thanks for the idea.

What a good idea! And so pretty.... Our fireplace has a raised hearth about that size, too. We wanted to be able to sit on it when the fireplace was not in use. But it's a hazard to little tots. You have come up with a great solution!

WMUTeach 06-16-2014 05:51 AM

Clever! Why didn't I think of that? I may do the same but put some extra warm batting. Sitting on those bricks to toast by the fire is wonderful but me bum gets cold! I see a seasonal theme for these, if I only had more time. Tee- Hee-Hee!

cpcarolyn 06-16-2014 06:13 AM

That's a great idea to help prevent bumps on the head, and I love your color and fabric choices.
