I sure do like it but can't identify it!! Beautiful!

Thank you everyone. Yes, this has been tricky for me. It is so similar to so many, but I cannot find the exact pattern. The snowy owl is the closest I have seen, but that is still not it. I will check with a local quilt store tomorrow to see if they have any ideas either. Thank you for weighing in!

I love the design too. My granny only thought she would ever be able to make the Dresden plate pattern, and she has gone on to make so many different patterns over her lifetime. The book I am making for her is just a beautiful testament to her lifelong "hobby". Thank you for your kind words.

I just looked in "1000 Great quilt Blocks" by Maggi McCormick Gordon, where block 429, Illinois, looks just like yours except it has a solid half-square triangle in the corners instead of the small set-in squares. Whatever the block is called, your quilt is lovely.

Just idea as a gift, terrific job and thank you for sharing, but can't help with the name of the block

Not sure what the pattern is but it sure is beautiful.

Have no idea the name of your block.
Though, I do recognize beautiful handquilting when I see it.
What a wonderful gift you are creating for your Grandmother. I know she will love it.

According to Barbara Brackman's Encyclopedia of Pieced Quilt Patterns, it appears to be block #1669, "Puss in the Corner" by Nancy Page. I don't know how to post a picture from the book.

Its a variation of the Memory Block on QuiltersScatche.com, because I'm working on the same block. I had to draw it out on paper, so I could make it like this pattern. I am also making a scrapy quilt. Good luck.
