I have fabric in the lighter of the three greens that I could border the whole thing with or use another coordinating fabric in the collection, but the latter would be rather dark, like the first border. Should I lighten it up or quilt it as is?

Thanks! (Oh, and pay no attention to those spots where the points are a little off... )

susie0808 04-09-2010 10:19 AM

Beautiful!!! You could finish with a black. Lay a strip next to it and see how it looks. And your points are great! Good Job!!!

athenagwis 04-09-2010 10:20 AM

My personal opinion is that a dark border would draw the eye inward whereas a light one would draw it out. Now if you ask me which is better, I don’t know! :) Can you take pics with the possible choices next to the quilt so we can see a little better your ideas?

I know is only my personal opinion, but I find that a black border makes every quilt stand out.

Maride 04-09-2010 10:21 AM

3 people said the same thing at the same time. Hmmm...

LoisN 04-09-2010 10:34 AM

I think it's great as is. If you leave it like this.....IT'S DONE!

I agree - I don't t ink it needs another border.

cminor 04-09-2010 10:59 AM

I really like it as is also. But if you want a boarder, I would vote for the darker one. That way the very light/bright green would stand out more on the inside. :)

paintedquilt 04-09-2010 11:17 AM

I think an inner border of the lighter and a second border of dark would be nice :-P

katei 04-09-2010 11:29 AM

I'd go for the darker border - I think that really finishes a quilt off.

And the darker option from the same collection, but not already in the quilt...

athenagwis 04-09-2010 12:05 PM

I like the lighter better myself.

Rachel

katier825 04-09-2010 12:12 PM

I like the lighter one too!

craftybear 04-09-2010 01:03 PM

Wow, I love the lighter one, pops the quilt out more

adirondackgrl76 04-09-2010 04:46 PM

I like the lighter border too! Really makes the quilt jump out.

I was thinking this also.

Cathie_R 04-09-2010 05:42 PM

I always like to finish with a dark border and binding. It just seems to frame the quilt.

Elsie 04-09-2010 06:53 PM

a light yellow or a light green

littlehud 04-09-2010 07:31 PM

I think it's pretty just like it is. I wouldn't change a thing. I think your points are great.

Stormatsea 04-09-2010 07:54 PM

I would use the medium green (swirl lighter green) used in your quilt. I would not use the dotted type fabric (not used in the quilt). But, of course, it is entirely up to the quilter's eye and what you like best. If you use something we tell you looks good, and, you do not like it, you will never be happy. So, go with what you like!

LindaR 04-10-2010 05:30 AM

lighter one...brightens right up

mimee4 04-10-2010 05:39 AM

My first thought was black. But the lighter border is great!!!!!

Melinda in Tulsa 04-10-2010 12:56 PM

Personally, I like it as is

jetnica 04-10-2010 12:58 PM

Here it is, went with the lighter color. ..

sorry i couldn't get the whole thing in the pic, no one to hold it up! :)

joy 04-10-2010 02:00 PM

My choice would be the middle colour, (green), I would definitely not put a border of yellow, there is enough yellow in it already... using the green would bring out that same colour that is through it... try it and see...

maryb119 04-10-2010 03:27 PM

I like what you did with the lighter border. Great jopb.

PurpleBecca 04-10-2010 03:32 PM

Don't mean to sound smug - but straight away when I saw this I thought 'lighter'!! Before you laid them next to - dont go with the darker one - just looks Alien!

Deffinately the lighter one!!

In my humble opinion!!! Which is all it is at the end of the day - my opinion - go with your heart!!!

Edited this!!! See you went with you heart - good girl!! It looks great!!!!!!

oldswimmer 04-10-2010 03:33 PM

Maybe a little zinger border of black, and then the lightest color.

Lovely quilt! I really like the fabric line.

foxyquilter 04-11-2010 11:00 AM

I agree with some of the others. A black border would definitely look good.

diannscrafts 04-11-2010 12:56 PM

I think the black would look nice. It always seems like the last border brings out that color in the quilt.

ToucanSam 04-11-2010 01:38 PM

Thanks for the input, everyone. I went with the lighter. Maybe a black binding?

:)

I was think the exact same thing. If you want to stick with the greens then the darkest of them.

Beautiful....didn't find one point out of whack! Nice work, beautiful quilt.

joy 04-11-2010 01:44 PM

thought the medium green would have done the trick as there is not much of it there...would have made it more noticeable... have you tried that yet?

maggiezoe 04-11-2010 03:05 PM

I like the lighter one

yourstrulyquilts 04-11-2010 04:02 PM

I never look at anyones point..........except of course, my own!! Your quilt is lovely and I think it needs about 4-5 inch dark green for the last border.

galvestonangel 04-11-2010 06:47 PM

Between the two, I like the lighter also. The other one seems out of place on the quilt. If you want more borders it might be nice to put a narrow border of the light and then add a wider black one. That would pick up the black in the quilt.

canuckninepatch 04-11-2010 06:55 PM

I definitely prefer the lighter border. The quilt is great! You've done a super job!
