Bevanger--I feel for you!! I have several quilts I've had to adjust. My seam ripper has smoked before. :? Hang in there. Deep breath. Rip some out and try again. The squares are beautiful.
Terri--you need to put the wine down when you need a straight line. |

NOW you tell me!! ;) |
Just a guess but it may be the vertical sash pieces in bottom row are all wider then top row. If even .25" bigger at the end of the row you would be off by an inch.
|
Rip it out...
Make sure the sashings are the correct size Make sure that the 3rd block from the left on the bottom is the correct size as all your other blocks... Don't get discouraged...we have all had it happen Seam rippers are our friends and are smokin.... Kirsten |

Thanks everyone. You made me feel so much better. I guess because I sewed my clothes for so many years, that quilting would be a snap. I guess I just got ahead of myself. You all are sooooooooooo great to me. I'm very greatful to have found you. So as we say in Crochet, its time to "frog" it. Rippitt. (frog noise/sp)

Do you have a 1/4 inch foot for your machine. I found that has saved me so many times. i know before I had the foot and the lipped ruler my projects looked just like yours. Also squaring the blocks before attaching helps. You did cut all the sashing the same width didn't you.
|
No I don't but If I use the edge of my ft it measured 1/4th. Yes I cut everything as I was suppose to BUT never thought to size up the squares as I figured they'd be ok if I measured right to begin with.

Bev: I can't add anything new to all the suggestions made by other board members so I'll just commiserate (sp! You'd think if I knew how to use the word, I should be able to spell it!) with you...been there, done that and I'm very familiar with the "frog."
Maybe I CAN offer some suggestions, after all. I did have a quilt teacher tell the class years ago that if you are a "HAIR" off on your cutting and sewing, you'll be off by a mile by the time you get to the end of your project so, measure twice, cut once. Keep you eye on the 1/4 seam allowance OR, if you just CAN'T sew a 1/4 inch then get a measure to guide you so you are always on and DO NOT forget, the end of each seam is as important as the middle so maintain the quarter inch from BEGINNING clear to the END. Enjoy and KEEP SEWING~! |
Very very true Feathers! I always tend to veer off on the ends if I am not paying attention and it does make a difference.
