Well, basically what you do is sew a bunch of charm squares (5") together and put a 3" border around. Then you use the template to cut on the lines and sew them back together. Voila! That is what you get. Lots of fun because you never know what it will look like in the end. You can also get a template (in this case make one) to make twisters with layer cakes (10" squares). I want to do that soon, but Christmas is getting in the way of my sewing for fun.

ok so what dimensions is your nifty template?? and how did you figure out where your lines on the template are suppose to be??

When I have time (ha ha ha) I want to calculate how many charms to make a certain size, ie lap quilt or long table runner. I guess if I spent the $19.95 on her book I wouldn't have to do my own calculating. But since I am on a spending diet.....[/quote]

Thanks for sharing - now that I see what SID looks like I may finish mine.
I'm wondering if the grid was 12x3 instead of 6x4 it would work for a runner? Something to do figure out in the cold months of winter!

It is 3 1/2" square. You can put those lines wherever you want based on how defined of a pinwheel you want. The original is 3/4" I believe, or 1". Mine are 3/4". I made mine according to what everyone on the board is making theirs. We have to be careful to remember to call these something other than "Twister" because Miss Moda Lissa probably has that copyrighted and she wouldn't be too happy that we are taking money out of her pocketbook. After all she did come up with the idea for the template. So I am calling mine pinwheels.
