Here is my quilt, I finished today. At 3:30pm. The pattern is called Providence Star. I got it from the quilters newsletter mag. Have any of you quilter ever make a quilt, and call it my(your) biggest mistake. I'm calling mine the biggest mistake ever. Here's a couple reasons. Had a little(a lot) of the seams not lining up. (2) I run out of the black/red print fabric. (3)So I did 8 blocks useing the brown print.(4) When i sewed the blocks together. I dont know why I didn't sew the black print with the black print. I lost train of thought and sewed the black blocks with the brown blocks. Instead of black to black and brown to brown. I probably give a couple more mistake. It more or less is ok. But my conscience isn't quit settled(ha-ha) yet. Anyhow everyone take care. Don-isewman1 more thing I did this quilt on point. And also THANK YOU to the members who help me find info on sewing quilt blocks on point.

Looks good to me Don !!!

Jane Quilter 10-15-2016 01:10 PM

Looks great to me.

feline fanatic 10-15-2016 01:46 PM

I think it looks great and had you not mentioned running out of fabric I would have thought the change in fabric was intentional. I quite like it.

NatalieF 10-15-2016 01:50 PM

Only you know those are boo-boos Don. To the rest of us, it looks like creative licence! Beautiful quilt!

quiltsRfun 10-15-2016 01:53 PM

I think it looks great. An artist is always critical of his own work.

Tartan 10-15-2016 01:57 PM

Even though you had to substitute fabric, the values look the same so it works. Great top!

zozee 10-15-2016 02:00 PM

I like it a lot, too! I think you are the only one who notices anything "wrong" with the black to brown placement. Looks very intentional and it works!

sewbizgirl 10-15-2016 03:02 PM

It's beautiful... nothing 'wrong', just some scrappy artistic license! You see this in vintage quilts all the time, so yours looks authentic.

On Point settings make me lose my mind! I get so confused. You did really well with this. Love it.

nls 10-15-2016 03:08 PM

Looks very nice!

Looks wonderful! We are our own worst critics!

lynnie 10-15-2016 06:22 PM

looks great to me. as always, your work is beautiful, and i look forward to seeing more of your work.

Hulalulu 10-15-2016 08:09 PM

Really like your border treatment with the openings -- think you'll see that there will be some copy cats with your idea!

justflyingin 10-15-2016 10:17 PM

I think it works! Turned out great in spite of all the difficulties.

BrendaK 10-15-2016 10:48 PM

As with all your quilts, this one is super. BrendaK

Sewbeeit2 10-16-2016 02:56 AM

Lots of work in this beauty...Congratulations for finishing it.
Most people would have
left it for someone else to finish....Way to go...

twinkie 10-16-2016 03:05 AM

Don, you are always your worst critic. I love it.

onaemtnest 10-16-2016 03:15 AM

Wowzer's Don another quilt that you have hit out of the park! I know unaligned intersections drive me bonkers too, don't ask how many blocks I've taken apart.... however I've never had a recipient of a quilt say, "Nice quilt only wish all the intersections aligned perfectly."

I agree with other comments, 'We are our own worst critics.' Again, very nicely done Don thank-you for sharing.

sinceresissy 10-16-2016 03:38 AM

I know how you feel but the quilt looks good.

Homespun 10-16-2016 04:12 AM

a very nice job, Don!!!

grannie cheechee 10-16-2016 04:33 AM

Don, another beautiful quilt!!!!

coopah 10-16-2016 04:43 AM

Hey, Don, I wish my mistakes looked as good as yours! Seriously, though, that quilt is just the "bee's knees." Whoever gets it is going to love it and not be looking for "mistakes." Your work, as always, is great!

Clay 10-16-2016 04:43 AM

Enjoyed the pictures Don. Nicely done.

fivepaws 10-16-2016 05:18 AM

It looks fine, Don. We are our own worst critics.

I can see what you mean, but only after you told us what happened. It looks like a design element. Beautiful quilt.

Geri B 10-16-2016 06:20 AM

You did a great job with a very tricky pattern. Looks like some of those seams were not meant to meet up...your color blending is superb...that's quite a talent..gives the finished piece an interesting twist.......

Mariposa 10-16-2016 06:22 AM

Great job using your creative license!

nwm50 10-16-2016 06:38 AM

Mistake?? What mistake? It looks intentionally to me and very nicely done!

Sew Freak 10-16-2016 07:34 AM

as usual....very nice!!!

feffertim 10-16-2016 08:12 AM

don't be so hard on yourself Don, I think it looks beautiful

craftylady53014 10-16-2016 08:15 AM

Love the way it looks,

Jordan 10-16-2016 08:17 AM

It looks wonderful to me Don. You did a great job so don't beat yourself up over a little ol'mistake. Remember-we all make mistakes in making our quilts so just enjoy what you have accomplished and it is beautiful.

Quilter 53 10-16-2016 08:23 AM

Don, it's perfect! Reminds me of some of the quilts my Grandma made, fabric used was whatever she had and "substitute" fabric was the norm. I have to say, Don, you are my inspiration! I've been coming to the board since 2013 and I always love to see a new post from you. I look forward for your next creation. Thanks

MargeD 10-16-2016 08:35 AM

Well, I think it's a gorgeous quilt. Isn't it amazing that when we make a quilt, we have been up close and personal with for some time; but nobody else can spot our mistakes but us? Don't worry, it's beautiful.

jmoore 10-16-2016 08:47 AM

Great job Don and congrats on trying a new challenge
