this is me...cannot start in a mess, but end up with one. then straighten and put away tools...rinse and repeat...I am seriously gonna take pics and see if my brother can post them for me. You guys are gonna rag me, or inundate me with begging, when you see my stash and tools. I've seen and heard a few on here, like mine, but i been embarrassed too long, time to brag...maybe

Oooh yes, please; please - I'm dying to see your stuff - get your brother over there asap! Tell him I said so!

K x

OK...gonna go snap some shots, now...it's not all that clean at the moment, but...you will have to wait for pics, bc I have to go get them developed and then get brother down here, when he is not busy. Just remember...you asked for it! :D

RedGarnet222 03-25-2009 05:16 PM

adrian lee ... I get what you are saying. And I am sure you are very happy in your space. Come on show it! I love to see where everyone sews.

Skeat ... He sure is sneaky! Oh well after all these years, so am I. Just kidding .... not! Ha ha ha ha .... Which stash?

Hey quitincrazy is gonna post a pic of her crative space. Cool!

Mousie 03-25-2009 06:06 PM

 LOL!!!
you'd think some guy in a speedo, just jumped out of a cake!
took me a doggone 45 minutes to find the camera. It fell off the wall unit, behind the microwave. was wedged in there. Told ya my house is small!
Will be several days before I can get them developed, but I'm not fooling, after all that I just did to get these pics, I'm whupped...gonna post these bad boys! :P

GailG 03-25-2009 09:22 PM

OK, Red. Sweetie, tell me this is a joke. You staged that room to make me jealous. Right? I would not know WHERE to begin to make my room look half as nice as yours. My room is 12 x 12 and has an 8-ft. closet. There's an armoir (books, etc) and a chest of drawers (notions, cutters, etc.) An L-shaped sewing table for 2 machines. A roll top desk, filing cabinet, and a folding hobby table. Oh, there's the treadle machine and antique wooden ironing board. And boxes/bins stacked everywhere -- fabrics AND scrapbooking supplies. I know I should be embarrassed even posting this, but maybe the embarrassment will cause me to try to do something about it. What can I get rid of? I've already sorted and purged (it went to Goodwill and charity sew-ers). Now I'm not mentioning the bins that are stacked in my walk-in closet and the corner of our bedroom. It's no wonder I can't sleep. Bad feng shue (sp?).I'll stop now. I wish I could rub elbows with some of you organized, neat people -- and it would rub off on me.

Maybe we should declare a forum sewing room/space month. Prob a warmer month for snowsewers like me that vacate their space for warmer months;) How fun would it be and it would give everyone a bit of time to hide some of the stash:)LOL what fun! Skeat

Sally Dolin 03-26-2009 03:29 AM

Just beautiful Red Garnet. I envy your ability to be tidy. I'm a mess cat and even with a large room it looks like a tornado came through most of the time. Some day I will clean it all up and send some ideas for sewing items taken from around the house and attic that I use to store things. Right now they are under about 1 1/2' of stuff LOL

Skeat, what do you mean by a forum sewingroom/space month? I am intrigued.

I USED TO BE LIKE EVERYBODY ON THIS POST, THAT JUST COULDN'T GET GOING. I AM NOT COMPLETELY CURED....it's just that I learned my biggest hindrance: I CANNOT WORK WITH CLUTTER UP TO MY EARS, ALL AROUND ME.
Now, when you see my pictures, my room is packed, but it IS organized. Not vacuumed this week, but nothing on the floor, except garbage cans and bins. Tables have some stuff that is cut out, so I am working on other table. I will not cut out one more project, until this one is done, simply bc, IT IS IN THE WAY of anything new.
I do have a block that I will do, but that's small.
Then I will get back to the toddler quilt, hanging on my design board.
I only kept the stuff, I know I am really going to use, and gave away or trashed, (oh, did I mention I was a famous box, bin, bag, ice cream bucket collector????) WAS.
When I cleaned and organized, one space at a time, and kept cleaning and organizing, till it was all done the way I want it, THEN, I felt freer to be creative.
It's not the way you are born, and it's not a gift. I have to push myself to stay neat...each and every day, but it is the most freeing thing I have done for myself. I am an addict, I am compulsive, and i can be a procrastinator. I will always wrestle with these issues, but now I know I can do something about it. And some days, I just don't go in there, so the urge will come back big time...and I set the timer. Absence does not make the heart grow fonder, it makes me lazy. One day of vacation, unless I am sick or not home. Gonna quit yacking about this now. These are the things that work for ME. Keep doing what you been doing and the same things will keep happening...I have to remind myself of that.
I hope each and every person finds their "groove". I have a motton on a bulletin board, "SOMETIMES THE ONLY REASON AN IDEA DOES NOT WORK, IS BC I - DON'T DO IT!!!" :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Mousie 03-26-2009 05:30 AM

LOL>LOL>LOL>LOL>LOL!!!!!

Some of what I just wrote actually fits here, but in the process of making so many replies, one after another, got my 'stuff' jumbled in my head. DO YOU EVER DO THAT? I have called ppl by other ppl's names, forgot and gave hints or advice about deceased ppl, thought I was talking to one person, and remembering their stuff, only to find out later, that is not that person at all...ROFLMBO...guess you have to be here, to get this...gonna go post this on, no gumption to sew now! (laughing and muttering to herself...)

k3n 03-26-2009 07:29 AM

I thought I was going mad C - was just thinking to myself 'what thread did I just click on, Dang computer's playing tricks on me. But it was YOU!!! LOL

K x

Skeat 03-26-2009 09:15 AM

Blonde moment! I mean we should declare a 'show us your sewing room and we'll show you ours!' Month here on the forum:0)Make sense now? Pick a month...warmer month hopefully and everyone take pics of their sewing spaces/rooms and post them here for all to see and spark ideas in storage...or better yet, sneakier ways to look like we have no sewing anythings-which would be soooo sad and then we'd all have....to go and buy more!:)How's that?!:)Skeat

RedGarnet222 03-26-2009 09:23 AM

OMGoodness! I never in a nmillion years thought this thread would be so popular! LOL!

Gail G ... Yes it does look like this most of the time. Certainly not when I am in the middle of a sewing project. But, I straighten and clean it between projects. I figure that this is my space, where I spend loads of time, why not have it nice? Did I mention that I have company much of the time? LOL!

I think what skeat was talking about is that she is a gardener. When the warm months are around she spends it out in her garden. I do too until the heat drives me into the house. Is that right hon?

quiltncrazy ... Did you have those pic developed yet? This is goign to be cool seeing your space. You two are funny here on this thread.

Thanks Sally Dolin ... I have friends that are neat and some that are not. It doesn't matter to me, I just love them for who they are, not what the house looks like. That is two different things altogether. Right? Don't worry, you will get on a sewing kick and go through yards of fabric all at once. I do.

k3n ... ((hugs)) Lol I do the same thing/

k3n 03-26-2009 09:26 AM

Thanks for the hugs Red - back atcha!!

K x

RedGarnet222 03-26-2009 09:29 AM

Skeat ... LoL! That's good ... way sneaky ... I like that! What honey? This?? ... or that is just mending I have to do. Ha ha ha ha ... Oh (insert your girlfriend's name here) asked me to store this for her. yeah! That's the ticket!

Skeat 03-26-2009 09:30 AM

Red...you always make me smile:)I said for the pictures of sewing room to be in the warmer months for some of us have to move out of our sewing rooms due to it being too cold to play. I am presently in my dinning room! My sewing room is in the basement (my dungeon)during 9months of the year:)Others too do the same. So, if we do a 'showing' month of sewing rooms...I'd have to go down w/3 layers at least to get it organized if I go right now!LOL Hope that makes sense..if not...just ignore me:)LOL Skeat

RedGarnet222 03-26-2009 09:51 AM

OH! Duhhh ... I get it. A true blonde here. LOL!

mary quite contrary 03-26-2009 01:19 PM

I have discovered the treadmill makes a great place to hang quilts. Love your space.

Well, you can tell I didn't "clean" before I took these pictures!! But this is how it looks most of the time!! There's always some work-in-progress. Look pass the mess and see my organizing. The plastic bins under the table hold: scissors, rotary cutters, misc sewing supplies, patterns, large items. I also put my notes on the corkboard and threads are in the containers on top of the table. I'll take a picture, when it's clean, but that will be later. I have too many projects I'm trying to complete right now!! lol Hope this makes some of you feel better about your spaces! At least you know I stay busy!!

I use the top of this to store polar fleece, completed quilt tops, Timtex and large cone threads. I also cover the front with fabric, so it looks neater! smile

Under the cutting/sewing table storage. The top two drawers are narrow and the bottom two are deep.

I bought the stand at Targets...holds a lot of weight!! Makes it easier to 'find' stuff when it's not stacked on top of each other! hahahaha

Skeat 03-26-2009 01:36 PM

What fun!!! But, omg!Do not ever leave me unattended in that room alone!!:0)I'd be sneaking peeks in all those organized drawers-thumbing thru all that fabric!! And, turning full circles in that good look'n sewing chair!! Skeat

Dorothy of Kansas 03-26-2009 01:41 PM

But Skeat, this isn't even half of what I have. Most of it's still in California in storage!! My husband insisted that we bring the FURNITURE instead of what I wanted to bring!! I didn't show the closets (there are two of them) as they are truly a mess.

I have a real 'puny' stash!:0)Mostly because I can never figure out the 'what' to buy when I am shopping unless I have a direct project in mind!! But, I am sooooo showing dh this post!:) And, you go tell your dh that there was a quilting woman in the world in an RV...and, her husband pulled a whole trailer full of her fabric behind that RV...because she couldn't ever decide what fabric to take on the trip!! Furniture first??What was he thinking??:0)LOL Love it! Skeat

Shemjo 03-26-2009 04:49 PM

Red, your space is beautiful! These posts may inspire me to organize my space, AFTER the shop hop this weekend, and........

O I C!!! Hubby calls mine a cave. Not bc it's dark...he's counted the lights before...what can I say?...I'm blind, need a light everywhere!...he calls it a cave, bc it's clean, but standing room only, sorta. It's not that bad. I can turn in my fancy smancy swivel chair, (my brother got for me...he loves me...I am his one and only, after all!)...I can turn from one machine to the other, and a couple scoots, and I am at serger....yack, yack, yack...I can splain all this 2 ju lucy, when the pics get on here...
anyway, Skeat,...there you are...(getting my head picture focused...your taller than me...huh...not hard, im 5'2...not eyes of blue, though....you have a dungeon...gotcha...it's down below, and brrr, cold...glad your not gonna make us look at pics in winter...i get sooo cold, so easy...so when ya wanna do the "I'll show you mine, if you show me yours?" It'll be at least a week before I have pics. Let's see, your in? Michigan?

Hey k? Seen any 'moons', lately?...they'll be dancing in the moonlight...cha cha cha right up to the light of day :P :P :P

Mousie 03-26-2009 06:59 PM

Gosh y'all, I been drinkin or somethin...lost part of my post.
K, when you scratch your head and say, Now what is she talking about..it's not me...it's YOU! lol...that's my story...
(shh, she was telling Skeat she could see to the moon, but not to Michigan...cause she...oh never mind, she gets me mixed up too. signed, Miss Rosie mouse  )

Skeat, I'm so relieved. After reading, I thought you would go in fabric store and walk out with next to nothing, bc you couldn't decide...when I don't know what to get, I get them all!!!...or I used to.
Your idea about hiding stash etc. before pics...real good idea, but you will see....
like a woman with big hips, no place to hide that.
(I can say that, I are a woman with big hips, but my sweetie loves me anyway! You just wear shoulder pads like a linebacker and say, "I'm just full figured like Marilyn Monroe!")
I hang curtains over stash to protect from dust and light, but also to keep my hubby from having a myocardial infarction...
I SAID, -INFARCTION-....that's a heart attack, ppl

k3n 03-27-2009 01:54 AM

C - OK, at last, finally, you lost me! What's the moon thing? I can't find it anywhere - I looked through my exchange with Skeat on her hallowe'en quilt - can't find moon reference. I WAS talking about moons on 'mare stare' but that was the other kind of moon - the one you keep in your pants! :D

So one of us is crazy?!!! But which one?

Love your sewing area. Like your computer too, I have one just like it. :) :)
Wish my place was that neat. My room is the sewing room/storeage room and it is a MAJOR mess so I am in the process of fixing it now. I am soooo tired. Not close to being done yet tho.

blahel 01-04-2010 07:44 PM

i am so envious as you have 2 sewing rooms..i only have a space in our office which I share with hubby but maybe one day when the boys move out.

Oklahoma Suzie 01-05-2010 04:08 AM
