I love the Grandma's Garden pattern and wanted to try to make a small one by hand. I have the pes design for my machine, but it's just not the same to me.

The tutorial I used said to make sure that you don't stitch through the front... but if you don't do that, how will it stay together??

I think it's beautiful!
I'm thinking about starting one for when we leave here. Will give me something to do while traveling. It's a long plane ride, then a long car ride, but will be enjoying the sites along the way, so don't really know how much sewing will get done.

Have you ever hand stitched the binding to the back or your quilt? Or done applique, like needle turn technique? Basically, all you are doing is catching threads on the side of the fold and then the fabric underneath. it is the same idea for doing the grandmother's flower garden ... your block looks great!
