Hey Everybody look what my hubby got me for my birthday
2 Attachment(s)
My DH has this awesome friend who repainted my featherweight (that was a 1937 model) and sewed so slow ... his friend Lin took it apart and redid the whole thing ... cleaned the motor and reworked everything about it
now it is said it runs like a gazel .... I'm so excited I should get her home by next week .... and she has been renamed Miss Ruby Red ... no longer is she a Pokey Nellie !!!!!... I've wanted a red Featherweight for years .... this is such an awesome gift .... and I might add the friend who did it does some awesome work it is beautiful .... I just had to share this ... Lucky Gal! She is beautiful. It is truly wonderful that these old machines can be fixed to run like new......sure not the case with the newer digital computerized machines. The FW's are so cute. I do have one but I just keep her on a shelf to look at! Someday, I just might start piecing a quilt on her but for now just feel lucky to have her. Mary M

Robin, your Featherweight is just beautiful. Your friend did a great job and your DH is definitely a keeper. That was so thoughtful of him.
I do all of my piecing and some of my FMQ (on smaller projects) on my 1951 Featherweight. My DH was obsessed with antique machines when I was working and we currently have a total of 38 machines, mostly Singers. He is doing a Featherweight for me in Purple (my favorite color). I am excited about that. He had collected them in the past but his ex wife went into the home (while he was out of town) and took all of them but two. Fortunately, she left two treadles. One is an 1952 Grover and Baker treadle which I love. |
Oh, I am so jealous! You'll love her. My little black FW will sew anything. Just love these little work horses
|
Robin, your FW looks "Absolutely Mahvehlous"!!! I'm green with envy!! Happy Birthday, Merry Christmas and Happy 2013!!
