High Stepper! - Spring Festival Quilt

2 Attachment(s)
I did this quilt as a demo of free motion quilting on a domestic machine for a Spring Festival in our town. I hand dyed the fabric then drew the horse in the center. People walked by and watched what I was doing and the most common comment was "I want a machine like that one that does everything for you!". They were a bit incredulous to learn the only thing my machine would do was a standard straight stitch. And that I was guiding the fabric. This was the 3rd time I've done this type of demo and I always enjoy hearing the comments and talking to people about my passion. I finished the quilt the next day at home.

Your quilt is spectacular. You are very talented and it's wonderful that you are sharing what can be done with just a straight stitch sewing machine. Thanks for sharing.

Spectacular quilting! You must make it look so easy they think the machine is doing it for you...but you are the artist here!

Bluebonnets 04-22-2016 03:20 PM

Beautiful and I would have loved to watch you work on it

amazing quilting and embroidery, very very pretty!

tkhooper 04-23-2016 04:47 AM

Ok, the question is do you sell transfers for those of us that just are not that creative or artistic? I've always had a vision of a brittany horse quilted on a white background for my bed.

nabobw 04-23-2016 04:53 AM

I want hands that can do what you do

hairquilt 04-23-2016 05:38 AM

I do not sell my work but I can tell you I haven't much artistic talent. I found the horse on Google images, printed it out, took it of Office Max and had it enlarged. Then I taped it to a window and traced around as much of the shape as I wanted, then sandwiched it and stitched it. It takes a little pre-planning but it isn't hard to do. But thanks to all of you for the kind words!

EmiliasNana 04-23-2016 07:15 AM

You are one talented lady. Not only is your horse beautiful, the quilting around it is stunning as well. I, too, find if I can print it out and draw it on the quilt, I can usually follow a line...............but have NO TALENT in coming up with an image of my own. I can't draw a stick figure!!!! UGH
