I'm trying not to get hooked on those, but your samples make it hard to resist. They are wonderful...the best I've seen yet!

OMG!! they are so much fun!! The longest part is stitching the back of the binding!! I am practicing hard on those, since someday soon I want to do a wholecloth quilt.

Mug Rugs can be anywhere from 5x7 to 7 or 8 x 13 from what I've seen. I did a search on this board for tutorials after I realized what they were yesterday. This one is called Ziggety Mug Rug and the original pattern is from a magazine, I think. Must go get started on the shoe mug rug!! See ya in a little while!

Thank you quilting.addict. Being Englisdh not heard of them before.

Nicely Done, MmeQuiltingAddict

I like your design there, with your bias joins. I haven't really been following patterns ... just making things happen with fabric. Whatever whim comes! I did my first crumb blocks .... Mug Rug size! And yes, I know, I need to get some pics posted!! :)

Mama8c 06-30-2011 03:01 AM

You do seem to be really into the Mug Rugs and yours are beautiful. I failed to take pics of them, but I recently made a good quilting friend 12 mug rugs for her birthday. One for each month of the year; i.e. Valentines, 4th of July, her birthday month. It was fun trying to come up with different themes for each month.

DebsShelties 06-30-2011 03:03 AM

very pretty

Psychomomquilter 06-30-2011 04:38 AM

ok all of you mug rug addicts, I would like directions, advice etc, on how to make them, I have extra scraps and thought that would be a great way of using those scraps. So any help would be greatly appreciated.

oh and Jeannie, yours look so good!
be great for upcoming Christmas gifts and such....

You are inspiring me to make some. Thanks I will try it today. Yours are Beautiful!

If you live in a cave it must be the envy of the local decorators.

sguillot 06-30-2011 05:04 AM

These are really pretty. I want to make some for my family. I think they will really love them they are big coffee drinkers.

judi wess 06-30-2011 05:23 AM

I share your style, it takes me awhile to get onboard with trends. Getting some ideas for using up scraps to put in the whatever sale for church this Oct. We need to raise extra funds for outreach projects and I need to have fun!

joym 06-30-2011 05:35 AM

love the design and color...very nice

catladyquilts 06-30-2011 06:01 AM

small ones are instant gradification - they are really nice, love the colors

Homespun 06-30-2011 07:43 AM

Why not be addicted. They are so cute and handy and use up a little of your leftover material and batting. I will post some of mine later today.

debcavan 06-30-2011 07:45 AM

If you love mug rugs, you would love postcards. They both can be made so personal and are just so fun to do and to receive.

sguillot 06-30-2011 07:50 AM

Most people really appreciate the special little touches of receiving home made projects, you can make them so personal and they feel so special. I think it's great. I wish I had more time to do things like that.

QUILTNMO 06-30-2011 08:39 AM

nice job

So do people really use them? I would worry about spills. I am thinking I have to have one but worry about getting it stained with coffee.

sguillot 06-30-2011 10:30 AM

They are washable, it would be better to wash it than ruin your furniture with a stain or circle that won't come out. I think they would be very pretty just sitting on your coffee table and side tables.

gramquilter2 06-30-2011 10:35 AM

Love the painted shoe rug

Coasters work. But what you said gives me reason to make one.

leiladylei54 06-30-2011 10:41 AM

Very pretty!!! I like them and maybe should try making some myself. Thanks for the inspiration!!!

sguillot 06-30-2011 10:43 AM

Costers do work but just think of all the praise you will get for being so creative and thoughtful and it's something you created and take pride in having others use and a different gift to give.
