3incollege 04-05-2008 10:59 AM

So cool! do you go up in hot balloons?

#1piecemaker 04-05-2008 11:00 AM

Thanks. It is truly one of a kind. I will never attempt another one like it. I saved the patterns but they will probably be filed away somewhere. It took me a year off and on. And I am still not satisfied. I am taking it to a quilt show next week. Will post how it does.

#1piecemaker 04-05-2008 11:02 AM

NOOOOOOOOOOOO! They are beautiful but I would only like to watch from the ground. My feet are planted.

live2teach 04-05-2008 11:02 AM

That is awesome. I love it, too! That is a one of a kind piece of art. Great Job!

#1piecemaker 04-05-2008 11:05 AM

Thanks. Wish now I had used different colors but I used what I had on hand.

Moonpi 04-05-2008 11:05 AM

Harmony 04-05-2008 11:24 AM

I love all the colors in the balloons, and the background cloud fabric is awesome! You could just lie down on this and dream away!

Hi #1 Piecemaker,

Found it!

If you'd like to have it, PM me your postal address and I'll slip it in an envelope and send it to you!

#1piecemaker 04-05-2008 02:34 PM

I would love to have it. Thanks ever so much.

Mamagus 04-05-2008 02:38 PM

I have your address written down so edit your message now and remove it... wouldn't want a sicko to get it! LOL

I'll mail it this week... SO happy it will have a home where it will be loved!

#1piecemaker 04-05-2008 02:39 PM

The more I look at your cross stitch, Mamagus, the more I get another brain storm. I have always thought that you can make a quilt from any cross stitch pattern by using different colors for the blocks instead of thread. Anyway, the cross stitch will look great in a picture frame above my bed.

Mamagus 04-05-2008 02:55 PM

It just fit on the scanner bed so it is not very big... you could make it into a throw pillow for the bed... or frame it!

#1piecemaker 04-05-2008 03:00 PM

Great. Thanks again. I am sure it is nice. Anyway it was nice of you to offer it to me. Not many people would do that.Quilters are the nicest people!

ButtercreamCakeArtist 04-05-2008 03:13 PM

Mamagus, Got the great hot air balloon picture in the mail. It will look lovely hanging with the quilt. Thanks ever so much. I will enjoy it for a long long time. Every time I look at it it will remind me of how great friends can be made by sharing. What can I do for you? Thanks again. # piecemaker.

Awww... your appreciation is thanks enough! Just tell anyone who asks where it came from, that your friend Lori in Newfoundland sent it to you!

barnbum 05-17-2008 05:33 PM

Wow--that's one awesome quilt. Did you go to the show yet?

DreamXer--I like your avatar photo.

beachlady 05-17-2008 05:34 PM

Your quilt is great - how did you do in the quilt show?

blahel 05-17-2008 08:37 PM

very nice..

#1piecemaker 05-18-2008 04:42 AM

I sure will. When I received the letter in the mail, my husband asked who I knew in Canada. I didn't know anybody. Now I do. This is great. Now not only do I know someoneelse who loves quilting but I also know someone who lives in another country! My quilting girls will be as excited as I am. Thanks again.

Izy 05-18-2008 07:57 AM

This is a beautiful quilt...it has brought back fond memories of the one time I have dared to go in one...we watched the sunrise over the valley of the kings in Egypt...amazing experience - stunning views and as all the locals don't have any roofs on their houses due to tax avoidance, I was so fascinated by all the people lay in bed, waking up as we passed and waving at us!! We had a crash landing too....in some poor farmers animal pen!!!!!! :D  We all did a dance when we climbed out to send our prayers to the gods for getting us down safely :?

quiltmaker101 05-19-2008 06:19 AM

That is a lovely quilt top! I just used a blue hot air balloon print for the back of a king size quilt. It is one of those 108" wide backing fabrics. I was wondering if you found it for the back of your quilt too?

How did the quilt show go?

nellie 05-20-2008 04:55 PM

what a beaitful quilt ,who is it for whoever gets it will be so lucky my son wanted me to make one for my grand daugther , your quilt is so cheerie nellie

#1piecemaker 05-21-2008 08:24 AM

Hello ladies, Sorry I haven't answered any of these questions but they came in on my bulk mail.(Guess I will have to fix that) I showed the quilt and didn't win any thing on it. Did get to see a young mother take pictures of her kids in front of it.That was cool. Took third place on my double wedding ring though. That was exciting. I have it all tucked away for now along with the picture mamagus sent me.

#1piecemaker 05-21-2008 08:26 AM

No. I haven't seen that kind of backing. I used some balloons to fill in the gaps off of some material I found at the last minute. Would have liked that, if I could have found some. Since Wal-Mart took the fabric out of our store I have been lost.

#1piecemaker 05-21-2008 08:30 AM

Hi Izy, What an experience! I can only imagine flying in one. I am scared of heights. Anticipating that crash landing I think. I just think they are so pretty.
