Dunster asked me to post my avatar picture when I asked her to post hers.
I cannot say this quilt was anywhere near as challenging as Dunster's. I drew the block on graph paper a couple of years ago. Then, when I got EQ5, I fooled around with the borders and filled in the colors I wanted. As I said in an earlier response to the post about "pressing seams to one side vs open," I was very frustrated with the bulk in my intersecting sections. I thank Dunster for posting her beauty! ps. I don't have a very good place to photograph quilts! Hot Flashes quilt |
I think this is beautiful!

It's a great way to photograph quilts - and you weather was good to you too. It has been pouring here for about 24 hours now. I love your colour scheme, is it so bright and cheerful. You did a great job.
|
Very nice. Love the color combination.
|
Beautiful. I love your colors. Thanks for sharing.
|
Love it - that EQ5 must be wonderful device to use.
|
OK, so why do you call it "Hot Flashes"? Great quilt!
|
Love your quilt, it is beautiful!

Stunning, absolutely breathtaking! makes hot flashes seem worth it!
|
Thank you Sugarpumpkin & Lacelady.
As far as rain goes, we are getting more than our share here (near Rochester, NY). We have had the 2nd coolest July on record; and we have had something like 3 times the normal rainfall for June/July. It has rained all but about a dozen days out of the last 60. We've also had hail; and two nearby towns had confirmed tornadoes last week! Considering Rochester is one of the rainiest cities in the US to begin with, 3 times the norm is amazing. They say people don't tan here, they rust. |
Mytwopals, Mamaskeeto & Chickadee_42us,
Glad you like the quilt; thanks for the kind remarks! Yes, EQ5 (EQ6 if you buy it now) is a nice tool, even if you have to relearn things everytime you get around to using it! |
BEAUTIFUL!!!
|
Colletta,
During the design stage, I just called it "mosaic," for lack of something better. Then, when I started the piecing, I also started experiencing some of those symptoms that women in my age group experience, if you get my drift. When I went to my longarm lady to drop off the quilt, she was having those same symptoms, only worse! So I decided I must name the quilt as I did. Too bad it isn't done in warm colors! My older sister refers to hot flashes as power surges. Perhaps that name would have been more appropriate fot the quilt. |
Ninnie, Bill'sBonBon & Esqmommy,
Thank you all for the enthusiastic replies! I cannot say I agree that hot flashes are worth it, though! |
Beautiful quilt. Thanks for sharing

love the colors. nice!
|
I love the colors. They seem to shimmer even more in the larger picture than in your avatar. I wish I had an outdoor clothesline to hang quilts on. It makes for a great picture.
|
Really beautiful quilt!!!! :D :D

Love your name for your quilt! LOL! That is so funny! The colors are very cool, I like them. Well ... Can you tell?? I like your quilt.

Barnbum, bearisgray, Dunster, Diana, RedGarnet222, Melanie, Debbie1, Teacup, Littlehud & Lisanne,
I have been away from the computer all weekend....sorry for the late reply! Thank you all for the great response! Again, it's nice to know that others can appreciate the colors. I guess my DH would rather the quilt stay outdoors! I guess he doesn't get "analogous" color schemes. Melanie, your avatar sketch (if that's what it is) is soooooo nice! Please don't tell me it came from some digital camera function....it looks like real artwork! |
That's gorgeous. Love the way the bright colors pop!
Near Rochester!! I'm about 40 miles east of Rochester, between Canandaigua and Geneva. |
It's eye popping!! Beautiful!!
|

Such a nice, enthusiastic group we have here! |
This quilt is beautiful! I love these colors together.
And just in case no one else answers- Melanie did draw that. She is a wonderful artist. There is a thread somewhere where she has a couple drawings. I will look for it. ETA: Here it is. http://www.quiltingboard.com/posts/list/23546.page |
Thank you Lisa T,
And thanks for the link! Wow! |

Which way do you normally iron your seams---open or to one side? Which do you think is better?
|
Very nice quilt! I like your pattern and color combination. Keep up the good work!
