It's a beautiful table runner, I don't care what you say about it.

debcavan 07-19-2011 12:14 PM

yeah mistakes happen, but if you look at it with a fresh eye all you will see is how beautiful it is. Don't sweat the small stuff.

I think you did a good job! FMQing is hard. I would only suggest that you use a thinner thread for FMQing. I think a 50wt or 60wt would give you more freedom to move around since the direction changes would be smoother and finer. Keep up the good work!

I think it looks great!

MISHNJIM 07-19-2011 03:35 PM

I like it!! our FMQ is just fine...I just took a class last week on FMQ and.....WELL.....Don't know if I'll be doing that again...LOL

Lilrain 07-19-2011 03:44 PM

I really like both sides. A gal in our guild gave us lessons on FMQ. She is a true artist and wins in national competitions. She suggests sitting with a paper and pencil and practice the movements on paper that you would be making on the quilt. Like the excercises we did drawing circles, etc when we were learning cursive writing.

So true!! I decide to do the "birthing method" and I always have trouble with it and frequently wind up putting on binding anyway.

A double-sided table runner?! Wow! looks great! Take it easy on yourself - so perfection is maybe over-rated?

Mickie612 07-20-2011 03:22 AM

It is beautiful. Why is it we are so hard on ourselves.

so-sew 07-20-2011 03:33 AM

Give yourself a break. It's a great runner, and who wants a homemade item that looks like it was made in a factory?

scottrell 07-20-2011 03:33 AM

You are being to hard on yourself. My thoughts are if I make a mistake I learn something, and the item is for me . No one is going to come in and inspect your work. If they do throw them out. Have fun, anyway it is beautiful. I wish I could do this type of pattern.

#1piecemaker 07-20-2011 03:58 AM

I can't see what you are worried about!! It's lovely!

QUILTNMO 07-20-2011 03:59 AM

i think it looks good

ka9sdn 07-20-2011 04:15 AM

Really nice. You may not like the FMQ but remember this is a hand craft and an original so it will not be perfect repeats like a SW pattern. Keep it up!

brightstar_202 07-20-2011 04:20 AM

easy I do it all of the time...Make mistakes that is what makes our job of quilting unique to us...LOL

I love the table runner colors. You are being too hard on yourself about the FMQ. If I could only do as well. I have commented to my family and quilting group that I have been sewing for more than 40 years and the FMQ stuff is kicking my tukas!!!!

cr12cats 07-20-2011 06:08 AM

i think they are great, what's up with all that willis?lol

mimee4 07-20-2011 06:49 AM

I didn't see "mistakes" at all and had to read some of the entries to find out what you are unhappy with. Wash it a time or two and you will be delighted.

I like your table runner! Your FMQ is good and will get better as you continue to do it. We are always our worst critics :-)

grammysharon 07-20-2011 08:02 AM

I don't see the problems you see :-o I think they are beautiful

Nancy Ingham 07-20-2011 09:17 AM

Congratulations on a job well done...you did a great job!
I love it!!!!

IBQLTN 07-20-2011 09:21 AM

I would venture a guess that if the back and front don't line up it's probably due to the 'birthing method' rather than a piecing or ruler error.

Next time try pin basting. That way you can make sure your lines match exactly.

Having said all of that, I think it is beautiful!
