How do I quilt this one?

My DD is having her second baby and we know it's a girl. DD requested that I make a baby quilt in hot pink and zebra print. After searching my stash and purchasing the baby zebra print on line, this is what I came up with. I think it turned out really cute. The binding will be the zebra print. My question is how do I quilt it? I am open to ideas so please tell me yours.
I have also made a matching crib sheet in the baby zebra print. |
Oh...I love it...its absolutely gorgeous...so cute :)
If it was mine I would probably consider just a stitch in ditch on all the straight lines and around the circles to make them pop. Can't wait to see what you end up doing |
Pretty! I'm not a big fan of a lot of quilting. I would stitch in a ditch around everything and smaller and smaller circles inside the circles.
Have no suggestions re: quilting, just wanted to say that that is one gorgeous baby quilt!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a cute baby quilt. So different. I would stitch in the ditch and I like the idea of making small circles. She will love it.
I would echo quilt around the objects, until they converge.
That is adorable - I would not have pictured a quilt like yours from the fabrics you described - The quilting? I don't know - maybe just an easy stipple so it doesn't take away from the beauty of the quilt.
That is darling! I love the design you came up with.
This quilt is so cute - I love the colors and fabrics you chose. Maybe outline quilting around the circles? Don't know much about quilting, so I really am no help.
Your quilt top is adorable! As to how to machine quilt it? I think I would either use my Bernina wiggle stitch to quilt down all the lines to mimic the rick rack and/or do circles in the circles and squares. If I had a long arm machine with the groovy board that did perfect circles, I would cover the whole quilt in them.

very cute quilt. love the ric rak in it
very cute quilt!!! maybe quilt a few more circles randomly and some SID ?
Oh my goodness this is so cute. So differant from the usual baby quilts she will love it and treasure
for many years. I dont know how I would quilt it but I'm sure someone will be happy to help you. |
adorable, just found out my daughter is pregnant, your quilt is fun and will grow with the baby, no idea how to quilt, im a newbie but love your work.
Congratulations. Very pretty quilt. BrendaK
It is very pretty.. I think I would stitch in the ditch.. I love the idea of the circles, and squares popping out...
Awesome baby girl quilt. Just love pinks and black together!!!!
how sweet, but keep the quilting simple, you don't want to smother the baby under a heavily quilted quilt. very nice
That quilt is beautiful. I would echo quilt it. Congrats on the new addition :)
So cute, not sure how I would quilt it.

Love the quilt top! I'd SID, inside the circles and then do a little bit of echo quilting outside the circles (but not too close together), to help give the top a sense of movement....lucky baby!
Very cute...love the colors.
Very Pretty.
I like to stitch on each side of the ditch, but very close to it. I like the outline look it gives. The color choices are terrif Puddy |
"as desired" of course ;-) Pretty quilt. Sorry I'm no help.
I'd do large meandering loops or any of the other ideas already suggested.
For the quilting, I would stitch spiral circles in the circle (like a child's rainbow lollypop) and spiral squares in the squares. I would stitch wavy lines on the rick rack block about an inch apart. I would stitch straight horizontal lines about an inch apart on the other rectangles. The circles and square are still the focal points, but it gives interest to the solid background.

Your quilt is simply adorable and it makes for a wonderful baby quilt. I love the design and the colors and fabric choices. Great job!
That is beautiful. My g-daughter is having a baby in Sept. She ask me to help her do the baby room in pink and black if she has a girl. We find out next week. She would love this.
This is a beautiful top...love the pink.
What a sweet combination of fabrics for a baby quilt. Just try not to quilt it too much. I have a nasty habit of doing that and the quilt gets a bit stiff. This is ok for wall hangings, but not for babies. I need a sign next to my sewing machine which gives me a reminder.

Here is a rough sketch with some quilting ideas. I didn't take the time to get my lines perfectly parallel or the shapes perfect, but you can get the idea.
Like this quilting idea. Love your quilt - great use of pink zebra ideas.

Here is a pic of a "circle" quilt I quilted.
That is really cute Maybe some half circle echo quilting or repeating the rick rack. Great job
Thanks, Carol!! I love that idea too! It has beena chalenge to make this quilt with the zebra print and still have it look like a baby quilt. I just made up a simple design on graph paper and started adding things until I got it the way I liked it. My DD hasn't seen it yet but her sister has and says DD will love it.
Love the retro look to your quilt! Love it!! Not too sure about the quilting though. How about echoing the circles and internal echoing of the smaller rectangles and squares, then squiggle lines down the longer strips? Almost like a ripple effect?
Love Judy's idea. Since you have lots of open space you can do quilt designs for baby, or some images more modern such as shown in sample. Whatever you decide will look great. Love the quilt top!
