ScrapQuilter 01-23-2010 02:50 PM

looks good to me.................. will be looking forward to seeing the finished quilt.

Quiltin'Lady 01-23-2010 03:03 PM

Oh, I like those.... Very pretty!

kathy 01-23-2010 03:06 PM

seems to need a yellow/gold

momto4 01-23-2010 03:09 PM

The other option that someone suggested was purples. I could try both ways. I just want to make sure it is right since they are more expensive fabrics (10 dollars a yard or so)

rootyr 01-23-2010 03:09 PM

I agree, a little yellow.

momto4 01-23-2010 03:17 PM

instead of the pink?

My first thought too, had been a red/orange!

gaigai 01-23-2010 03:27 PM

I love the colors! And I just can't see yellow with those.

samroberts01 01-23-2010 03:29 PM

yes to this too... something warm, golden.... can't wait to see the finished object!

Some soft yellow gold would set it off and punch it up ...IMO.

I like your original colors. Very spa-like and relaxing. And the darker colors would be great for contrast. I think you do great with color. I'd steal that color palette in a minute!

Eddie 01-23-2010 03:55 PM

I really like those original colors, too. The only reservation I'd have about them is that lightest red and the lightest brown are pretty similar in shade, so not sure if the contrast would be enough between them.

So what kind of bargello pattern are you going to do?

dkabasketlady 01-23-2010 04:32 PM

I love your color choices, but I'd add some yellow also. Can't wait to see the finished project. I'm wanting to do one also. Thanks for sharing.

amma 01-23-2010 04:46 PM

amma 01-23-2010 05:04 PM

momto4 01-23-2010 06:24 PM

Eddie- This is the bargello pattern that I have

http://www.lockwoodquilts.com/store/.../illusion.html

I still havent decided on the background color, black, white, cream.... not positive.

momto4 01-23-2010 06:31 PM

Thanks for the color wheel link amma! :D *huggles*

Eddie 01-23-2010 06:32 PM

Wow, that's going to be beautiful! I really like the look of it with a dark background. I think those initial three colors you picked out would look great. Are the purple, too. O.k., I'm indecisive, I can't make up my mind, LOL! :D Have you made up yours, yet?

momto4 01-23-2010 06:39 PM

Hahaha. I dont know lol. I think they would both be beautiful, but since someone said that it was very spa like now im leaning towards the pink again hahaha :D Yes, I think the pink. It is going to be my bedroom theme so I think I could do more...with pictures of water and what not. We both love Mexico so yes... ill go with the pink! :D

Esqmommy 01-23-2010 07:39 PM

Your colors are so much like the colors in my Dear Jane quilt I'm making! So, IMHO, they are perfect!!!!!!!!!!!

BKinCO 01-23-2010 08:37 PM

Love the pattern!!! You're a brave girl :) I love all the colors you're looking at too. Have you settled on something yet???

Tippy 01-23-2010 09:07 PM

I love it just the way you originally picked it out.
I'd bypass the yellow.. but then I'm not much of a yellow person..

spinnergs 01-23-2010 09:34 PM

You should get a simple color wheel, available at craft stores, and use it to get your color choices, then remember, every quilt need a "punch" color. Not alot of it but just enough to kick it up a notch.

I can't wait to see it finished!!!

charismah 01-24-2010 12:10 AM

MOmto4 ...I am wondering of you have looked thru the pattern yet?? HOw hard is this quilt [attern..I am thinking I may buy it...it looks nice. I love bargellos....and I have a few books and patterns that I have already done..thinking I should try another??

Elisabrat 01-24-2010 03:28 AM

I think if you put those colors together stand back a tiny bit and squint you will see the 'effect' of them together vs the invidual colors and that will help you the most. I dont see yellow but that is mostly a tiny bit of yellow goes a huge mile and it might end up screaming at you in the bargello which is a very sassy pattern and unless you want yellow to be your focus where your eye pops to I wouldnt use it. I havent made a quilt bargello but don't you have enough colors already? I have made them with needlework. I think it is much more difficult to do with fabric. I can see if I tried it a whole lot of seam ripping going on.

janice4 01-25-2010 06:46 AM

I love these it will be gorgeous !!

Panther Creek Quilting 01-25-2010 06:58 AM

Oh this is going to be an awesome quilt. Could you just double the work and make me one <g>! I really would take good care of it. By the way, love your first color choices and would also skip the yellow. But as said before I am also not a big fan of yellow. Can't wait to see it!

Sheila

Baywatch quilter 01-25-2010 09:14 AM

Gorgeous.... very "ice cream like" or "florida like" or spring time.... yummy.

cindyg 01-25-2010 10:14 AM

I like your original colors. I see the beach in them.
The pink reminds me of the inside of a conch shell, the turquoise looks like the water, and the browns the beach.

Sharon - NC 01-25-2010 10:26 AM

I like it the way it is. And I love the patern. Looking forward to seeing the finished product! :)
