That's the nicest looking basement I have seen - very few houses in Australia even have basements and the impressions one gets are from the scary movies where evil happens in the basement. Your entrance is very inviting and makes it a lovely 'segway' to your studio. Good work on both your parts.

My husband is a lot like yours. He will hang a quilt wherever, whenever I ask him to. We have a staircase like that, too. He does photography and we put pictures of his going down the stairs. Looks great. But there is still all that wall that goes all the way up to our second story down to our basement that really could use something there. We talk about trying to put a large quilt or several smaller ones like you did. I just cannot figure a safe way to get him up there to hang them. Any suggestions?
