I am so happy with my latest wall hanging. Can you tell?

I was very challenged in making this wall hanging, but, I think the effort was worth it.

I used cross-weaves, peppered and shot cottons, and some homespun plaids. Leslie Wiens Knosko quilted it. I put on a two-tone binding so the sky would not be framed in.

It hangs on a wall in our home and when the lights are low in the evening the windows sort of glow. I am really happy with it!

Thanks!

Nice wallhanging. You did a wonderful job. I especially like how you did the binding.

As an aside, if you are going to put a disclaimer about not sharing the picture without permission, which is of course your prerogative but hardly enforceable on a public site such as the QB, It would be nice if you also give the pattern designer credit when you post a picture of the quilt you created from their pattern on a public site.

Very creative use of fabric and color. Can imagine it was a bit of a challenge. And thanks for the link to the pattern and designer, feline.

I had the same thought, and then when I went to the Craftsy page I did not find the designer's name. So then I went to her blog, Pretty Little Quilts, and even there I had to dig around a bit to find her name, which is Cristina Tepsick http://prettylittlequilts.blogspot.com/p/about-me.html . When I first saw the quilt it reminded me of a quilt by Flavin Glover that appears in The Twentieth Century's Best American Quilts. I had to dig that up, and it's definitely not the same but a little similar. Flavin showed hers when she did a talk for our guild a few years ago. You can see it here: http://www.flavinglover.com/slide_titles/row_houses.htm

Corky, your wall hanging is beautiful!

Of course you are absolutely right, Feline Fanatic! It is such a well-known and older pattern I absolutely slipped in my responsibility to name the designer. Thanks for the reminder!

I guess I didn't mean permission, but put my name and the name of the designer and quilter with it? So glad you like it, I am in love with shot cottons and peppers. Do you use them?

needles3thread 04-21-2016 10:59 AM

It's great.
