First off, it's a beautiful quilt. I just love the fabrics that you have used.

I think I would use the paisley fabric for the drop. I think it would look more neutral than the cream. I know that doesn't sound logical but the paisley, to me anyway, would be more calming and lead the eye to your quilt design.

Let us know what you choose. It seems everyone has many ideas (which is what is so great about quilting). I just think the cream would jump out at you if you know what I mean.

I completely agree with QuiltingIdaho. I think the cream will draw the eye away from the top. I like the idea ofthe brown with a cream binding. You did a beautiful job.

IT IS A PREITY TOP i LIKE THE STAR AROUND THE BOTTUM SOUNDS GOOD. IT WOULD BE VERY NICE COLOE TO WITH THE TOP. vERN

Maybe a small border (1 inch) of the pale blue, then the cream with the floating stars.

Your quilt is beautiful. Love the colors and the Paisley bed ruffle will be awesome. Beautiful. :-D :-D :-D

MadQuilter 02-20-2010 11:36 AM

I'd go for the paisley. More cream would look like an afterthought IMHO.

What a lovely quilt!!

SkubaK & Peppermint - The name of the quilt pattern is "Jewel of the Night" by Roxanne Carter. It is out of The Quilter Magazine.. March 2008.

ozarkmama 02-20-2010 04:52 PM

I agree with sewjoyce. Cream border would be beautiful with dark bedskirt below it.

I am drawn to stars and your colors are so striking. Paisley bed ruffle will be perfect with the floating stars on the cream. Go for it. Can't wait to see it finished.

I was just wondering what the name of the paisley fabric is - if you know - or even the line? It is so pretty. Now my hubby wants your quilt ;) I think you have gotten a lot of great ideas. I think all of them would work. In the end, you have to decide what will make you happy. I have a quilt planned and I will have some cream border on the outside because I like the way it looks but it isn't for everyone. - Your quilt is beautiful! Would love to see picts when you are done.

You have made an absolutely beautiful quilt! Love the colors and the pattern and your work looks perfect! I am sure whatever you choose will be lovely.

Justme, I would do the border in paisley fabric. The pattern is gorgeous. I like the colors you have chosen. Eiltocq.

Justme,
Who is the manufacturer of the paisley material? I would love to purchase some. Thanks for any information you can give me. Eiltocq.

I vote paisley...with a paisley ruffle, will keep your eye right where you want it...on the main part of the quilt top...and not distract with patterns on the sides.

I think we probably made your decision worse with so many points of view! :)

polly13 02-21-2010 04:31 AM

obxqwlter---your suggestion of a paisley border not distracting from the beautiful top is a great one. How good to have so many suggestions to choose from---or perhaps not.

sewcrafty 02-21-2010 04:38 AM

I guess I'm different. I would pick up aqua color and maybe some of the golden in the paisley.

pocoellie 02-21-2010 04:45 AM

Personally I like the second option. Love your colors and patterns.

Scissor Queen 02-21-2010 06:06 AM

Since the border that's on it now echos the design between the blocks adding another cream border to it will mess up that design. I would add the paisley.

Bevanger 02-21-2010 06:18 AM

ooooooooooo sure is pretty

Ma for Aadyn 02-21-2010 11:11 AM

I LOVE THAT COLOR COMBINATION JUST LOVE PAISLEY ANYWAY BEAUTIFUL JOB

belmer 02-21-2010 11:29 AM

That is soooo gorgious. I cant decide myself about the borders.

jdavis 02-21-2010 12:49 PM

That's very pretty, and I like the little "checkered" parts. I think they would be nice in the border as well (somehow).

JJean 02-21-2010 01:09 PM

Gosh your quilt is gorgeous! Whatever you decide. I love your quilt! :D :D :D

justme 02-21-2010 06:02 PM

Hi Everyone,,
Thanks you all for your great ideas...I purchased the fabric at Joannes and have not been able to find more of it. The paisley fabric is made by Fabric Traditions. copyright 2009. I believe the name of it was Morrocan Paisley.
This quilt was suppose to be for my sister...the real dilemma is that I did not buy the fabric to make a queen size quilt... my hubby loved the colors and pattern - wants it for our bed..
So far I took off the cream and brown border.. trying to piece enough to make two more rows, then a few floating stars set with the cream . add the cream and brown border on the bottom. then have the pasiley bed ruffle.
Keeping my fingers crossed that this will work!

QuiltingIdaho 02-22-2010 06:54 AM

I can't wait to see the finished quilt. Good luck!

I agree, the paisley fabric would make an awesome outter border and not show dirt as much as the cream. What's the name of this pattern? I really like it. You've done a fabulous job...

I do so agree with the above.
