i think you should do the aquarium look, it would look great in the bathroom

The disappearing nine patch is super simple, no templates needed just a good ruler for cutting and it would really showcase the fish. I second the block for the runner. Did one at the holidays and everyone fell in love with it.

watterstide, thanks for that example. I have some other fabric that would work for. I think I have a good idea of how to get this started, thanks!

Good, What ever you do, try to do a mock up with scrap fabric, like muslins, or cut it out on paper..Don't forget the seam allowances.
the finished D9P is 12 inch..or 12.5 unfinished.. the cut strips used to make the 9 patch were 4.5
if anyone has a math mind..you can check my numbers please..
i am one of those math people that thinks if she has checks, she has money! ROLFMAO!

I vote for just the fish fabric - wholecloth. :D :D :D

I'm going to follow Qbeth's design, but now I'm stuck on seam allowance and measurements. I want my finished size to be 12" x 26" The design looks like I can just strip cut(thanks) and then sew. If the strip measures 2" in the design, should I cut an extra 1/2" on fabric to allow for the 1/4" seam allowance?

Jingleberry, I had that thought too :) It is nice, and I was lucky to find it! It's not exactly the same as the wallpaper I have, but it's close enough for what I want it for. I want to incorporate the batik (the one that looks like water) in with the fish prints tho. The solid will be the binding and border. The back will be the batik. Maybe I can fussy cut some of the fish to look as if they're swimming after each other in the blocks :) Just gotta figure out what size I'm cutting!

I just can't see a pattern with these fabrics... I sure would appreciate any ideas, even adding another color perhaps.

Thanks, your question so early in the morning is waking up my brain! I started playing with your fabrics (I think I got all three correct) and rearranging them into different (very simple) patterns. I don't know if I like my end result but it might spark your creative juices. Good luck!

really cute.

Here is what I came up with... I reinforced a lot of what I have been learning today, and I really feel like I will be called a quilter someday :)

The fishy runner, thanks for all the help!
