I went to a guild meeting last night. It was a hectic afternoon and I forgot to bring needles and stuff with me like they said in the email. It was ok though. They were more than willing to share and look what we made last night! These could get addictive I'm afraid......I've already found me a clear plastic container to set up a kit to take with me. And my application and dues are in the mail. I planned on joining last night but wouldn't you know it the atm was down and I didn't have time to go to another one before the meeting and of course I didn't have the checkbook. There were a LOT of people there last night. They said they made 97 of the little kits they gave out for the hexagon and they used all of them. There are usually about 80 at the meetings they said. I've tossed the idea about joining around for a year now and hopefully this will be something I enjoy.

Yea!! Have a blast. :-)

I'm glad you found such a welcoming group!
Is the flower hand pieced? Do you plan to make more? What size is each hexagon? I have found hexagons of about 2" are easy enough to machine piece -- just mark where the seams will cross and stop right there. |
Way to go ginnie2!!! Beautiful flower, and yes, they are addictive!! Have fun!
|
yes its hand pieced and just under 2"....I think I will make more. It will be something I can take with me when I have to wait or when riding.

Congratulations! I love my guild, meetings, people, activities, and location, and..... Can you tell I love my guild?
|
Is there a tutorial on making these? They look very fun, and make a beautiful quilt.
|
You will enjoy the guild, I am sure. I have been a member of ours for 23 years this month. And you meet so many nice people, too. I think all of my local friends are quilters!

I began these English paper-piecing Grandma's flower garden pieces a couple years ago - fun take-along project.
One 'trick' I learned at a meeting is to punch a small hole w/ hole paper punch in middle of each paper & use short straight pin through hole to keep fabric in place while hand-sewing. Also, until each petal is sewn to another on all sides, do not remove the cardboard form. Maybe you already knew this, but just in case... |
the pattern came from here and they had permission to share it
www.ciaspalette.com/categories/ideas/html there's supposed to be a tutorial on there too the paper I got says. |
