how adorable! I agree with the narrow binding idea.

Thank you! It's a signature quilt! My son is in the Air Force and he and his wife are in Germany, so I thought it would be nice to have friends and family each sign a block. This is their first baby, and it has been hard for them being so far from home and family. Actually trying to get all the signatures was more work than sewing the quilt! It almost seems that I spent as much time emailing and Facebooking to get those signatures as I did stitching! But I think it was worth it. I think that my son and daughter in law will be so pleased to see all those signatures- especially since they come from all over the western U.S.

What a darling quilt!!

That is a beautiful quilt! I think a narrow pastel binding will not detract at all from the checkerboard, will only set it off more. It is such a soft quilt - have you thought about using Minkee on the back? Somehow it just looks like a really soft backing would be perfect.

oooo- Minkee! Had not thought about that- what a great idea! I already have the backing ready to go...next time I will have to remember Minkee- it is so soft, I just love that! Great suggestion! Next time I go fabric shopping, I will just have to bring you along!

I agree with irishrose, I think one of your pastel colors would be very pretty. Your quilt is just so pretty! :-)

If you don't want to mess with the checkerboard borders, how about addition a 1 1/2 inch additional border and then bind it? That way the integrity of the checkerboards are intact (hope that makes sense).
I think your quilt is beautiful and the idea of having signatures in the quilt from family and friends is amazing!!! Something they will surely treasure.

A binding in the light color. Just wide enough to cover your ¼'' seam allowance should not distort your checkerboard at all. By the way, Love your quilt.

I love this quilt. I am really into baby quilts right now. I think I would turn binding to the back of the quilt.

do a binding facing.
