I agree!!! Its nice that we all agree on this! It's also great that we have this wonderful place to come & talk about our craft & have different ideas & tastes. I love this board!!! |
It's a beautiful quilt and I love all the colors!

It's such a beautiful top and wouldn't you rather have a beautiful quilt to grace one of your beds rather than a lumpy, bumpy one. I would take it apart, add new batting, and if you can salvage the backing fabric, go for it.

It is beautiful!!

First ask an expert of antique quilts. The lumps you are mentioning could be when they used newspaper for batting, many years ago, when people could not afford or perhaps batting was scarce due to wars. It is a nice quilt.

That is a great find...good for you!

Yes, yes, yes. Do re-do it. Beautiful quilt, and who knows what kind of batting was used. If it were an old one, could have been just "carded" cotton, which required lots of close stitching as it was loose and not bonded like our batting of today. Go for it and show us again when you are finished.

Sounds like the verdict is to requilt it with new batting. I agree wholeheartedly and want to see the finished product.
