QuiltforPD 11-30-2011 08:21 AM

I have followed your threads on this quilt. It is amazing. You have a quilt to be proud of and I bought the pattern and one day hope to do this although I know it won't be NEAR your quality! You do amazing work!!!!!

It was seriously a lot of work that I drove myself crazy over. I don't know if it's a good or a bad thing that I've become increasinly neurotic about accuracy, to the point of pressing seams open which I have hardly ever done until a couple of quilts ago. I'm working on a simple quilt now and did the first block last night to test (I'm not done with all of the parts) and I pressed seams just because I know that seams meet better that way. Now if I can just get better at the quilting.... I guess that trying to do things better than the last time never ends.

Awesome! She will love it! So glad you finished it and shared with us. It seems like sometimes the ones we have to most difficulty with are the ones we are proudest of when done. Congratulations!

Wow such a breath taking quilt!!! I have this same pattern along with my collection of Kansas Trouble prints to make this quilt. I think after seeing this it will be my next project.

BeckyL 12-02-2011 11:22 AM

Pam, That is absolutely stunning. What is the pattern?

pittsburgpam 12-04-2011 07:01 PM

The pattern is Faceted Jewels and is usually done in jewel tones that I've seen. I'm still working on hand sewing the binding and really need to take a couple of evenings and get it done!

Looking back I found that I started this quilt on Nov. 17th, 2010. It was a whole lot of work and there were months at a time that I didn't work on it. I got it on the quilting frame probably 5 months ago? (not sure). My machine was working so horribly that I gave up after spending more time trying to get it stitching well than I was actually quilting.

Yesterday I just walked into the room and started quilting. No warming it up, no testing, nothing. Of course it worked just fine and I finished the quilting this morning. I have the binding about ready to sew on so it will be almost a year in the making. It's for my daughter and maybe THIS Christmas she'll get it.

That is absolutely stunning. What is the name of the pattern?

Peggy Jeanne 12-08-2011 08:47 AM

It is funny how walking away and then going back can get you quilting again, it is beautiful!

RonieM 12-08-2011 08:51 AM

OMG!!! That is a stunning quilt!

BuzzinBumble 12-08-2011 09:11 AM

Your daughter is going to love this stunning creation! I've heard other quilters say much the same thing about coming back to a project and suddenly being able to accomplish it. Maybe your subconscious mind was working it out?

Carrie Jo 12-08-2011 09:55 AM

I wanted to add my quilt to this thread as this quilt inspired me to make mine. I use 25 Jacob's ladders made by friends from my Piecemakers' quilt group for the blocks. The "arrow" pieces were difficult and are not perfect. I grew weary of it but determined to finish it. The quilting is all done by machine, center panel first, then side borders and the undulating flying geese for the bottom border. They were attached to the center panel by the cotton theory method. I did do the binding by hand as thought it would look prettier. My DGD asked for the quilt when it was just a center panel so that is why I added borders to fit her queen size quilt. I delivered it to her Monday night and she immediately put it on her ped. I will attach pictures.
