It has been about a week before Christmas since I have stepped foot into my studio to do anything sewing related. Well I finally got out there to do work on a project.
So here is the fruits of my effort, although I was taking some pretty strong pain meds for my back (that might explain the use of colors and a few miss matched points) I think it turned out somewhat okay. All that is left is sandwiching the top and quilting. This is for my newborn great nephew I used the basic pattern from the "Quilt for Kids". Billy |
It's bright and will be GREAT for his eyes! ;)
I absolutely love that background fabric... it's so much fun! |
Beautiful fabric!

Nice job. I like that blue fabric...looks like a mosaic.

Fantastic colors for a baby! Great work, especially if you were hurting! Bet it feels good to be back out there!!

Nice job. I like that blue fabric...looks like a mosaic. I have had the hardest time trying to use that color in anything. I am glad it worked for what I used it for. I was seeing double there for a little bit! Billy |

Love the colors. That background fabric is a real find. Hope you bought lots.
|
I did get to sandwich it today along with being midways through with the quilting before I had to quit this afternoon. Boy it feels good to be using my treadle again!
Hopefully I will be able to finish quilting and binding it tomorrow and I will have more photos of the finished project. Billy |
lol Had to laugh about the heavy meds and your choice of colors...hmm maybe i should try that to get out of my comfort zone...I love the quilt & your colors-thanks for sharing.

I am really surprised that I was able to get it all out of my stash. Since I am just in the beginning stages of quilting I have not had the time to build a stash like the ones that you guys have floating around. Some of you have a complete Hancock Fabrics in your sewing rooms!  But I suppose it is just like anything else it takes time to build one up. I did however slip back out to the studio and finished the quilt up, now all thats left is to wash it and take photos of it. And I think on this one since its a gift and it is going several states away to my Grand Nephew (damn I am getting old) I want to do a label for it. What do you all recommend for doing that. I have embroidery floss and the cloth that you use for counted cross stitch would that be sufficient to do the job? Help the brother out I am on another round of meds LOL!!  Billy |

Well here it is finished, washed and ready to ship off to New Orleans to my Grand Nephew.
I hope the little turbo tot likes it  Billy |
Horray! You got to sew again, feels good, huh? I go into withdrawals if I can't sew for a few days.
Looks great! |
Recognized the pattern right off & your nephew is going to love it. Don't you feel warm inside when you make a child smile?
|
I love it! Have fun making more quilts!
|
I would say those points are pretty good....as is the quilt.......
|
Thank you for the complements, its not as precise as I like them to be but it worked out fairly good. Now I have to make one for my Grand Niece that was born a couple of weeks ago.
But this time I going to use a different pattern and its has to have Purple, Pink, and Yellow in it. So after all of this ice we have melts away I will run and get the material for the quilt for her. Billy |
Billy, that is just beautiful Thanks for sharing sorry u haven't been able to get out in your sewing place. And i can't wait to see the GN's quilt the colors all ready sounds wonderful

That is absolutely beautiful. It is bright and I like the colors. I can't wait to see the one for your Grand Niece.
Think you're getting old? I have been a Great Gramma for over two years, now that's old. Glad to be old though, beats the alternative. |

Love looking at your quilts, knowing they were done on a treadle. Learned to sew on a treadle; wished I had one yesterday when they were predicting loss of electricity and loads of ice on trees. Did not materialize; guess we're too close to Al border. So today, back to the 9 patches.

cute.

I had a hard time breaking the hand wheel habit. But I love my new machines; just long for a treadle once in a while. This quilt is beautiful; love the color combination and the pattern. King size=lots of work! Have fun.

Billy, so glad you are able to get back into your studio. Sorry to hear about your back pain...
Sometimes, meds are good for the creativity :D Nice work... oh and I didn't see any miss/matched points :D |
I had a hard time breaking the hand wheel habit. But I love my new machines; As far as I am concerned treadles are the only way to go! Billy |

But my DH has 3 brothers who married women older and two of them were 20 yrs older. It runs in the family!! LOL I just said as long as she is good for you I don't care what the age is. |

I flirted with her and kept pestering her until she finally agreed to go out with me. She was the most beautiful woman that I had ever laid eyes upon and to this day I still feel the same. And after she got a hold of me I was not going to let her go, Daddy didn't raise no fool!!!  We have been married for 25 going on 26 years, have two wonderful kids and are just as much in love as we were the day we said "I do". My kids and their friends always laugh at us about how we act (sometimes I think we are worse than they are) and we are always having fun and joking around with each other. During our entire marriage we have never argued nor raised our voices to each other. They are always saying we are going to be the cute old couple that holds hands while walking in the park. And you know what, they are right. Billy |
Sounds like you definately met your soul mate! Nathan had to grow up fast when he met Jill. He had been staying with friends and had never had his own place so he had never taken responsibility for anyone but himself. He had to learn to consider the kids' needs but it didn't take long. I was very proud of him for becoming an instant dad and he has always been a hands on dad. But he would put the kids in timeout on their beds and then forget them! THey would be asleep when he went back to let them up. Ooops!
They have a good marriage with bumps along the way but they have a large family now. Jill's dad collects old cars and works on them. She is an afficianado of old cars too.But she and Nathan are into motorcycles more now. My DH used to be in a motorcycle gang when he was a teenager. He is disabled now but we have spent a lot of time looking in the cycle shops over the years!! I am a mechanics daughter and a mechanic's wife. Glen can no longer work on cars due to his health but he still dreams of building a hot rod. |
