this was a BOM project from a couple of years ago (it was my second year of doing the BOM's at the local quilt shop). it's been sandwiched for about a year waiting for me to get up the courage to machine quilt it myself. it's for a friend in a nursing home in Tennessee.

it's my first 'real' machine quilting project since my advanced machine quilting class. i'm really enjoying the 'quilting' part now!

yep! :D my best friend Janome! i've got several tables all the same height put together, which makes it much easier (along with my Supreme Glider mat!). it's not a huge quilt, but it's a decent size lap quilt.

That's a way cool quilt and you certainly can't tell that your quilting was done on a home sewing machine. GREAT JOB!

GMA 07-28-2008 02:02 PM

Great job is rite! which janome do u have? I'm a beginner, have done some machine quilting and continue to push myself to practice more. Cuz we all know - practice makes perfect - or at least better.

it's a Janome Harmony 8080 (back when Sears used to sell them). nothing special, think it was about $400 several years ago.

this is kind of a practice quilt for me. so i tried a couple of different things. my first time meandering (other than in class).

Quilting Aggi 07-29-2008 09:25 AM

was it done by free motion quilting? I would love to get the nerve up to do more meandering and designs with my machine quilting instead to sticking to the quarter of an inch from the ditch, and other straight lines.. I need some pizazzz in my life!!

For a first time quilter, you have done an excellent job. Now nothing will deter you. A lovely quilt, and I hope your friend enjoys many hours of shear joy every time she uses it.
