See the pretty quilt! This is only the third quilt I've ever made. I gave it as a christmas gift but really, was not happy with it - can any of you experienced quilters tell me what is wrong with this? It just does not look right and I am not sure why. I appreciate your feed back.
I think it looks great! You put a lot of work into it!
Love it! Looks like a lot of work and you say it is only your third quilt? Pat yourself on the back! Job well done!
It looks great! Just keep in mind that we are our own worst critic. I know I see things in mine that no one else sees - we're too critical of our own work.
But.. .... ..... if it's bugging you that much, send it my way!!! Tee hee!!!! They don't call me KittyGram for nothing!!!!! |
I'm not very experienced but it looks fantastic to me, such a lot of work!
I think it looks awesome, especially for your 3rd. If I had to choose something that was "off"... in my opinion, I'd say its the blocks with the white background on the outter edges. It draws my attention from the center. But I still think it looks great!!! Keep on quilting, you've got a lot of talent!
I see absolutely nothing wrong with it! It's wonderful and boy, I am impressed for your third quilt! My third quilt was NOTHING that ambitious! You did a fantastic job! Lucky person who recieved it as a gift!
I think it looks wonderful too!!
There's something wrong with it??? Where??
Love it, don't change a thing. I'm also a kitty person!
i think it looks great..it is just a matter of opinion..
when you put a quilt top up,on a wall or on a bed.( i use tacks put it up on a wall, and Live with it a few days) it takes time for the quilt to settle down so to speak..and then after you have looked at the squares a few days..you start to see where they need to be moved or turned...or left alone! You did a great job..i am not sure what is in the center blocks..Embroidry? Maybe when you put white blocks up to white binding..the maybe tend to look larger than the other blocks..? i am not a cat person..no hissing please!..but i would be honored to curl up with it! Kim |
You need to be really proud of yourself! Especially as it is only your third quilt. The only thing I can see that might bother you is that the center squares may not have enough contrast?
I think it's wonderful. It's hard to believe it's just your third quilt. You are a natural.
It's wonderful.
I know what it is..... it should have been dogs!
Just kidding!!!!!! It is beautiful, and I love all the differen kitty blocks. I agree that we are our own worst critics! Great job! |
i think it's adorable and shows quite a bit of talent.
it's possible you're subconsciously comparing to quilts you've seen made by others - especially those with years more experience. (when i want to feel really awful about my own work, i look at everybody else's. :lol  ) most of the quilts we see have much wider borders. maybe that's what throws off your opinion of it. i don't know whether or not i'd have put a wider border. (sometimes, the width and/or complexity of my borders depends entirely on how sick i am of working on a quilt by the time i get that far. ) your quilt is great just as it is. it's a lot nicer than many i've made over the years. be proud of it. |
From a design standpoint the only thing I would have done differantly -and this is a personal choice not a criticism- I would have liked the center to stand out more. It is bit overshadowed by the other two designs.
But the quilt is just fabulous. I don't see a thing wrong with it. You have a wonderful assortment of cats designs and colors are so varied and really interesting to look at! Your "saw blades"? are wonderful!! I can't really see the center blocks but they look really pretty! The person who got it is very blessed to have this quilt!! It is fantastic!! I especially like the white kittie in the bottom row! That black face and black tail are so cute!! And the orange cat face is sooo cute!! Good job!! |
i think you did a wonderful job too..sometimes we work on a quilt so long that we get sick of seeing it. Maybe if you dont see it for a while you opinion will change?
I know what the problem is--it would look better if it was in my house! Great work!
I agree with Patrice, the only thing I would change would be to add a wider border. I like it the way it is, but it doesn't look quite finished to me...jmho..Great job on the quilt  You have a lot of talent and a good eye. Can't wait to see what you do next!!
Ditter |
congratS it's lovely. Love kitties.
Your third quilt? Are you kidding? It's terrific! Not a thing wrong with it.
Let me just say I LOVE it! It's perrrfect! And you did a fantastic job!! Anyone would be thrilled to have this beautiful quilt...So as I have said that, I spent 10 min studying it, and the only thing I found that you could change would be that,I would have spread some of the groupings of colors out a bit more..The slightly darker blocks mixed more evenly with the slighly lighter ones.
In my opinion only....it might benefit from a larger border to balance the large number of blocks. Another look would have been to break up the blocks by placing a plain border 2 blocks in all the way around....But it is fine as it is. You should be proud...great job.
More kitties maybe. Just kidding, I think it's great. Did the person you gave it to like it? If so then don't be so hard on yourself. You did a great job.
I love it!!!!
I love cats and I love your cat quilt. You did a very nice job. For me, my eye is drawn to the four center squares, which are so different than the rest of the quilt and like Mosquitosewgirl indicated, there isn't any contrast within those four. Perhaps an additional, wider border, maybe in the green fabric would have been nice.
I think your quilt is beautiful just as it is. Don't over think this whole quilting process. I can assure you your 30th quilt will look different from your 3rd. You'll grow with each one and each one will be better than the last. In time, your tastes will change too. Mine certainly did. I've gone through many phases and styles, but I love every quilt I ever made.
Hang in there and hang it proudly! Karen |
Looks great to me!! I love your cats!
It looks great!
Well, I do see what is wrong with it....it's not at MY house!! It's really cute! |
Can't tell what's wrong with it in that light, but if you'll send it to me I'll have Lucy and Ethel check it and get back to you...
Seriously, great job. I think it's awesome, and I don't see a thing wrong with it. Darren |
I don't see anything wrong with the quilt at all. Maybe you were bored with working on it or something like that. I think it looks great! :D
You did an amazing job  and like others here have said, we are our own worse critic. Keep up the good work, in a bit you won't even wonder about what it was you didn't like about it (how do I know this)
i think it looks fine, you have done a wonderful job
I can tell you exactly what is wrong with it. It isn't at my house.
It is true, we are our own worst critics. Sometimes I make a quilt with a picture in my head of how I want it to look. Then when I finish it, it doesn't look like the picture and I am disappointed. But no one else has seen my "picture", they only see the result, which is usually just great. Try not to see your "picture" and see the beautiful quilt you have made. |
I don't see anything wrong with it!!
It looks wonderful!! Great job!! |
Okay, so I was concerned...my eye is not as "Picky" as some, so I submitted your picture to my Quality Control Department (aka Kitty Bitty). You will be VERY happy to know that he inspected it and found absolutely nothing wrong wih your quilt! In fact, it received the coveted 2 tail swish award! High Praise, indeed! Keep up the good work!

I don't see anything wrong with it so not sure what you're talking about. It's a wonderful quilt!
