I finished hand quilting this morning

The pattern is called Georgia Peach from a book by Judy Martin-Ultimate Book of quilt block patterns. In away, I'm a little disappointed in me, now. I dont have a quilt to start hand quilting on. After I make 24 blocks for my long arm lady friend. I have to make a backing & binding for my grdsons quilt, I finished the other day. And then make binding for my quilt I just finished hand quilting. EVERYONE take care. I do want yous to know I used black and cream quilting threadsHeres the quilt itselfA close up of the blockSome of the quilting around the cornersThis is what all of the corner look likeThis is what I got when joining the blocks together without sashing strips.I had 1 more comment, but senior blank moment, kicked in

wow! very nice! I need to get back to hand quilting.

Fantastic quilt! Your quilting is just perfect! I love the look of hand quilted quilts and yours looks so cozy.

this is a gorgeous quilt! your handquilting is as beautiful & well done as your block/quilt piecing. i always love seeing your latest quilt finishes! i too have used colored thread like black when hand quilting. i like the look on yours too. when i started handquilting years ago it was so relaxing it reminded me of doing embroidery. so, i experimented with doing what you did here. i've done it several times now and love the look. a suggestion tho? i have a couple of small handquilting projects i can go to when the big, need to finish, project done. all the chatter about ufo's & wip's are, in my mind silly. our quilting predecessors would never have worried about such and neither do i. i have a pretty little wall hanging that took 13 yrs to complete, from first fabric cut to last stitch in binding. it recieves many compliments when visitors see it & i've grown to love telling them how many years i worked on it. so ..make something & put together a project that's just for the joy of doing, not worry about finishing. a "go to" forever project. :o

This is a gorgeous quilt Don and your hand quilting is exceptional, much better than mine. Wish I lived close because I would drop off one of my UFOs! Stay warm and be safe. :)

Very nicely done hand quilting!
Such a lovely quilt and the quilting is so wonderful. What a treasure.
It is beautiful. I cannot hold a needle so all of my quilts are machine quilted. I am very envious of you.
Congratulations! This is a work of art.

I am on the fence about hand quilting. Yours looks so beautiful it makes me want to try it!
What did you use to trace the quilting lines on your quilt? |
Nice work, Don.

I am in awe of people who hand quilt. Your work on this is magnificent.

You have accomplished a great job and the quilt and quilting are beautiful.
Beautiful work!
I like your pattern but your hand quilting makes you quilt stunning. I like machine quilting fine and most of us do it and produce great quilts. However, there is nothing that compares to traditional hand quilting.
Makes me want to brush up on handquilting again......beautiful work! Do you use a hoop or a frame? I have one of those PVC frames...I should unpack it and put it together.....
BTW. What brand handquilting thread do you use? I know of a group of hand quilters who dip spools of regular (?) thread into melted wax, and use that...ever hear of doing that ????? |
That is beautiful!!!
Just wonderful! There is so little hand quilting these days and I do love to see it done. Yours is just perfect...so precise and such tiny little stitches. The thread colors stand out so well. Congratulations on a job well done. This is truly a keepsake.
Your quilting is beautiful. Love the secondary pattern created when the blocks are placed together. Nice work!
Wow! Great job on the quilt!
Just gorgeous!! Love your handquilting with colored thread!
Great job. I bet it feels good to get it completed. I love hand quilting. It is very satisfying.
WOW! What more is there to say! This is amazing! Well done!

Thank you for sharing, such a treat to see your hand quilting. You do beautiful work. May I ask what needles you use to hand quilt (brand and size) and what thimble you use also. I am a newer quilter who does handwork exclusively and I sympathize, I feel sometimes I piece to quilt and I don't have anything to quilt at the moment either so I am piecing as quick as I can as I love the practice of hand quilting.
beautiful!!!! Your stitches are beautiful!
your comment about not having another project made me giggle. I'm trying to time the completion of a Dr Seuss wallhanging and my green log cabin variation - also a Judy Martin pattern. Pictures coming soon. |
