this is the quilt that my grandmother gave me 14 years ago, it was made by her mother. It was in my basement in a tote that was on the bottom of a large stack of stuff. I had to go for it and dig it out

Really nice and with a lot of meaning behind it.

this one looks like it was pieced by machine, long armed and the binding is machine sewn to the back. All this time I have insisted on hand sewing my binding on cause thats the way my grandma's would have done it. WRONG, at least this grandma machine binded. lol

When I saw the ‘error’ block my 1st thought was that she did it on purpose and I wondered why she decided to do it that way. She added mystery to her quilt. Thanks for sharing!

That was my first idea too. Your GGM might have just gotten a telephone put in and wanted to brag about the event. If I, at 77, can remember when we first got electricity back on the farm, then why couldn't your GGM remember her first phone?

On the other hand, she may simply have run out of fabric for the quilt and "made do" as most did at that time.
