Here's my newly finished quilt top, using the crumb blocks I made. (And keep making!) The original mini blocks are 4x4" unfinished. I used 4 to make a 7 1/4" unfinished block ( there is more cutaway for squaring up, due to the small size of the crumbs). Then I sewed the blocks into 8 piece columns. Basically, each column is 7 1/4" wide, and about 56" tall. I will do the same, Sashiko-style stitching on this that I did on my last one, and I may use a flannel piece for the back. It will be a WARM quilt, as it is already heavy, due to all the little pieces.

Not necessarily. It is more important to have straight seams than worry too much about allowance. If your seams bow at all, you will end up with a very bumpy quilt.

quiltgran2 02-10-2011 07:18 PM

Great scrap quilt.

Mariposa 02-10-2011 07:26 PM

Love the crumbs!! Neat arrangement you did! My crumbs are still in a baggie, waiting for more friends! :)

anniec55 02-10-2011 07:40 PM

Beautiful, but now you'll have to make some other quilts so you can have more scraps.... I agree with whoever said they are very pretty but can't get it in my head to figure out how to do it!!

MoMiMi 02-10-2011 09:02 PM

It is so nice. Love to use the little pieces and make something so warm and useful.

What a great use of smaller chunks of fabric and it is also a great looking quilt. Talk about getting your money's worth out of your fabric!!!

wanttobe 02-11-2011 04:27 PM

Wow, great use of crumbs. To think we used to throw these jewels in the trash! What were we thinking?

lavandula girl 02-11-2011 06:16 PM

I know! I think I have thrown away ENTIRE blankets' worth of fabric, without thinking about it!

NCquilter 02-11-2011 06:19 PM

That is a great idea! Your quilt is very pretty!

grannyoquilting 02-11-2011 06:22 PM
