I know it is just a local county fair - but - I gotta brag!!!!
The silly part is that everyone gets a blue 1st place ribbon!!! That is everyone but me on my crazy quilt, it only got a second place. Everything else got the blue ribbon along with whatever other ribbons. Weird!! I asked about that this morning when I took my stuff in and was told that you get the blue ribbon just for the effort of making it and bringing it in. Thanks for looking Blue Jean with heart applique King size crazy quilt pieced on dryer sheets Recycled VCR tape purses My table runner Brainy Baby Ball hiding behind ribbon better picture of baby ball |

Okay, gotta ask....VCR tape purses? Where did you get such an idea? I'm a librarian, we have so many VCR tapes to toss out it's crazy. Maybe if I make one or two and show them to the kids, some of the craftier ones might give it a whirl. I'd gladly give them the tapes. PS Love that baby ball. I have one, but I thought it was a pin cushion! Each section has a different type of pin. That way all my pins are close but not mixed up. The grandkids love to separate them--except the one who like to mix them up! You have lots of talent and interests. Good going.

I think I saw it on the internet someplace. Just someone mentioning crochet with VCR tape so I tried it.
I just make up the pattern as I go. It is really hard to put a lining in because you have nothing really to sew to. The black & silver one that won reserve grand champion is the only one with a lining. I sewed it in by hand very carefully going around strands of tape and not sewing thru them. |
I love all your entries, especially the crazy quilt.
|
You are very talented great wins :-D

Perhaps they just ran out of blue ribbons! Ask if you didn't get one...and everybody else did...You might accidentallky been overlooked...
Actually that sort of thing has been happening for years....usually they have so many categories that they only have one or two entrants per category so they get the ribbons. When I was a kid in about 1945 I entered a piece of string weaving, that I had made on my aunts loom.in our county fair. The judges had never seen that kind of "craft" before so they invented a category and gave me a blue ribbon! And those ladies that won ribbons for their jelly or a pie or quilting hung those ribbons on the tops of their dresser mirrors and enjoyed the whole thing immensly! It is a kind of nice American country custom! |

I just love them all and thanks for sharing.

Our fair's Open Class is getting smaller & smaller so they want to encourage everyone to participate so they won't discontinue this event.
I picked up the book that shows all the classes and I told my Aunt that next year I am going to see how many classes I can enter. That should be fun and keep me busy!!! |
