I am making a first-granddaughter quilt. The nursery is baby pink and zebra. I have made Eleanor Burns' "First Love" squares in pinks with white on white, but they look pretty pale. I want the quilt to be delicate and sweet. Do the people on this wonderful board have suggestions on how to put them together? I took a picture of a few of the squares, and some fabrics I have. I also have all the pinks in the squares and more white. Please help!

Look at this quilt. Think about using this as sashing. Nine patch in the corner and then three strips of fabric. Hope you like this idea

I would keep the whole thing pink and white. If you sash, using the white on white will float your hearts.

I like the bottom picture with the center not being a heart. Why not incorporate a zebra print heart in the center?

Just my opinion. If I were making the quilt I would sash them with the zebra print I see laying next to your block. Since this is what the nursery is done in, it would certainly match.
Darling blocks by the way

It's cute. Maybe you could lay the bottom zebra print out and position the heart squares on it to see what it would look like with a thin zebra sash. I kind of like mainladybug's idea about incorporating a zebra stripe in one of the hearts. Let us know what you decide.

I love the shade of pink you've used its so sweet. I think I would find a small mini print in the shades of the paisley print that you used on the heart in the far right square to use for sashing. Then if you have any of heart fabrics left, I would sew small strips together then cut them on the bias to make a binding and repeat the look of the strips in the hearts. It would tie together everthing so sweetly.
Where did you find this pattern? I make charity quilts for the preemie units at our area hospital, I sew with the group called Threads of Love. This would make a cute small quilt, they need to 30" sqaure so its hard to find good blocks to fit a 4 or 5" square. Chris

Love all the fabrics, but I'm not sure the final outcome can be just "delicate & sweet" when your incorporating zebra print and black. how about delicately sweet with pizzazz and strength? I vote for the zebra heart (with some pink) in the center.

you could bind it in a zebra print to give it some punch too.

I think the zebra print for sashing would look good, for a small border as well. But, I would stick with the sweet pinks for the hearts. The overall look should go well in the nursery.
