I Never Promised You A Rose Garden
3 Attachment(s)
Finally finished this queen size named "I Never Promised You a Rose Garden". It is a modified "Garden Maze" pattern. The original block pattern called for a 7" block in the center, but this fabric's motif was large, so I changed the dimensions to accommodate these gorgeous roses. This was my first attempt at a pantograph, which is a uniform pattern from one edge of the quilt to the other. It takes a lot longer than free motion quilting because 1) you quilt from the backside of the machine and have to look at the pattern instead of the quilt and 2) after you finish each row, you have to line up the next row so it is of equal distance to avoid large spaces between the rows and to avoid sewing over the previous row. It takes uninterrupted concentration, of which I have little! I had a couple of "oops" show up on the back, so I decorated the back with embroidered rose appliqué patches. I couldn't get the quilting illustration to load so next post will try again.

It's a beautiful quilt! Very striking.

I love this! Are those poppies on the fabric? Spring has certainly sprung at your house, there deep in the heart of Texas! Kudos!

Love that pattern and I have just the fabric for it. LOL

Stunningly beautiful and what a great job you did! The appliques on the back are a very smart idea and no one would ever know that there's a slight stitching oops underneath. Great idea.
|
Oh, wow, that is lovely!

It's a beautiful quilt! I love the appliques on the back, what a clever touch. You did a great job on the panto too, your stitching looks very smooth and even.

Very pretty!!

Beautiful quilt and like how you finished the back.

Love it. The next quilt that I'm planning on doing is a Garden Maze where the 2 color bands (light and dark green) interweave. Now, I may have to rethink it. Your rose fabric is striking. The whole quilt has the "WOW" factor.

Beautiful quilt! Your longarm quilting looks perfect! Is that pattern called "Popcorn"? I have that pattern, and have used it. It makes a lovely quilt. Great job!
|
Just perfect for Mother's Day tomorrow! But, we're Texans! I'd love to do it in yellow roses!
|
Colors are so pretty. Lovely quilt.

Your quilt is a good way to use the large floral. They are so pretty, but sometimes difficult to use in a quilt. |
I love the quilt especially the way the roses are scatter on the back. Opps, made well.
|
Why do you have to quilt it from the back? Are you using a long arm or your regular sewing machine? Just curious because I've never heard od having to quilt from the back to use a pantograph.
|
Beautiful. Thanks for sharing about the pantograph. It's free for me all the way. My long arm doesn't have a place for using a pantograph but I was always trying to think of how I could incorporate one. Now I can quit wondering about it.

This is to die for! Roses are my favorite flowers so this fabric and pattern are calling to me big time. Great job! Love, Love, Love it!

Love your quilt. I have that same fabric but not enough to make the quilt and the border but it is breath taking. I made this pattern several years ago out of a different type of flower print and it's been so long I have forgotten what they were. I had given it to a real good friend and she still cherishes it today. Beautiful work.
