I saw this on facebook or another social media site and remembering the huge box of old thread in the corner, decided to copy it. A lot of the thread was inherited from my mother. The directions were simple and I had everything I needed in a closet in my studio. My husband came in through the front door and was surprised with how cute it turned out to be.

What a great idea for all those old, old spools of thread I have! Very pretty. :)

quiltstringz 02-28-2014 09:25 AM

Great use of old spools of thread. Good news is it isn't seasonal!!! You can leave it up all year

fxsts93kf 02-28-2014 09:36 AM

Adorable! So colorful.

Diane007 02-28-2014 10:20 AM

Sdwill 02-28-2014 10:22 AM

I love it. I can probably come up with enough old thread from my Mom and MIL's stash.

dunster 02-28-2014 10:25 AM

Very clever, I even see a couple of bobbins in there. But what if just the right color of thread is in the wreath?

MaryMo 02-28-2014 10:26 AM

that is superb ... let's all know that you are a sewer, if they didn't know it already. I'll have to be on the lookout for old spools and such. Thanks for sharing.

I thought the same thing! It is cute!

Your wreath is super cute.

I found a quick tutorial for it. This person used wooden spools (200 of them) and used colored paper on some of the spools for a patriotic wreath. I also saw one where the wooden spools had fabric wrapped around them. Here's the link: http://www.craftsunleashed.com/decor...-spool-wreath/

Divokittysmom 02-28-2014 10:51 AM

Now that is totally adorable! I believe I saw something like that on Pinterest! Great job!

Mariposa 02-28-2014 11:04 AM

Very cute! Fun idea for those older items, etc. :)

Pennyhal 02-28-2014 11:05 AM

Very cute wreath! Love that website too. Thanks!

Dee G 02-28-2014 11:14 AM

I love it and will check out tag sales for spools.

ruthrings 02-28-2014 11:23 AM

I love it! I'm glad you already had old thread. W/ the price of thread nowadays, that's worth its weight in gold!

Lady Jane 02-28-2014 11:42 AM

That turned out sew great, what a wonderful idea!

lynnie 02-28-2014 01:32 PM

Zinda 02-28-2014 02:42 PM

Great idea, especially for those old spools of thread that aren't useful for today's quilting.

JuneBillie 02-28-2014 09:34 PM

Awe that is so cute.

tessagin 03-01-2014 06:23 AM

I saw it on FAcebook too and I believe it was on "24 Blocks". Yours is adorable.

twinkie 03-02-2014 04:21 AM

Just precious.

Retired Fire Chief 03-02-2014 04:23 AM

That is adorable! Now when I go junking I will start looking for old thread, I would love a wreath like that on my pantry door.

That turned out really nice.

jmoore 03-02-2014 04:54 AM

oh what fun! It sure would brighten up one's sewing room. Thanks for sharing.

quilterpurpledog 03-02-2014 05:28 AM

That is really cute. If you do not want it on the front door to announce your hobby it would also look cute in your sewing room. Looks like a fun project to do-just might have to try it.

solstice3 03-02-2014 05:44 AM

absolutely adorable

callen 03-02-2014 05:48 AM

That is super cute & even if you had "empty" old spools, you could still make it & spray paint it whatever colour you want & then just add your accessories. Awesome idea for anyone who has a sewing/craft room or studio.

Shirlrh 03-02-2014 06:57 AM

It's very cute. Great job!

meyert 03-02-2014 07:02 AM
