Decided today would sit in front of sewing machine instead of computer... should of been here was busy did two blocks to make sure was Right...then chained pieced..ironed ..sewed do you see my  problem? What would be easier to fix? take off flying geese pieces and turn or take off red and blue 4 patches and redo ???I'd start over if I had just bought MORE material   Still smiling before i start ripping.. p.s. thats 18 blocks that are wrong..

sewwhat85 02-03-2011 02:35 PM

oh no get out the ripper if i was there i would help i am great at ripping it may be easier to rip the middle if that makes sense

oatw13 02-03-2011 02:35 PM

Bummer.

I would take off the smaller 4 patches.

It's a very pretty block.

carolaug 02-03-2011 02:35 PM

I love that block!

stacey65 02-03-2011 02:37 PM

i would just leave it the way it is.. you made a boo boo for a reason.. no one will ever know...LOL

Lucymae 02-03-2011 02:38 PM

There's no easy way. It is a nice pattern and your blocks are neat

good luck...you are not the only one who has done this. Some days I just walk away from the machine :)

May in Jersey 02-03-2011 02:39 PM

Why rip anything out? You just made a different block, that's all. May in Jersey

patricej 02-03-2011 02:43 PM

that is not a mistake.

it is a surprise design change. :P

who says you have to follow the pattern exactly?

;-)

Yarn or Fabric 02-03-2011 02:44 PM

Hmmmm... either rip it out or put those odd ones around the outside for a I meant to do that look?

suezquilts 02-03-2011 02:49 PM

Do it the right way, you'll sleep better!

Sapphire_Rae 02-03-2011 03:03 PM

Dang! This is where I would sit in my chair watching a TV show and relax while ripping. Looks like there may be less to undo if you do the geese.

grammyto2 02-03-2011 03:07 PM

rip out the outside 4 patches, you will be glad you did.

Prism99 02-03-2011 03:10 PM

I'm sorry, but maybe I don't understand the problem. Wouldn't you just move the stack that is above the middle to the bottom, and the stack that is below the middle to the top?

What am I missing??? (I *do* have a headache at the moment, so forgive me if I am being really dense......)

Oh, duh! Finally figured it out!

I would take off the red and blue patches; at least they're all sewn on the straight-of-grain. Wouldn't want to fool with the flying geese.

pocoellie 02-03-2011 03:14 PM

I agree with stacey65, I would leave as is. I don't mind some seam ripping, but not that much.

irishrose 02-03-2011 03:17 PM

Your points on your geese look good, so I'd leave them and switch the four patches. I'm glad you found it now instead of when it was completed.

Lindsey 02-03-2011 03:23 PM

can't you just save them for the next blocks and then use them on the sides. sew the geese to the top and bottom and then sew the sides with the mistakes on. do you get what i mean.

quiltlonger 02-03-2011 03:27 PM

think will sleep on it tonite check replies in morning or later and work tomorrow with a smile on my face

Yes, but all 18 unfinished blocks are at the same point only 20 in all, maybe should rip out the two and turn them like the rest and will be my OWN pattern gee, never been a designer before
;)

Lindsey 02-03-2011 03:50 PM

i see thought perhaps you needed more and u could use what you have for them.

That's what I was going to say! I like it as is.

pgthom 02-03-2011 03:52 PM

If it were me....and I admit to being a little too perfectionist...I would have to take it apart and make it "right" or it would always nag at me. I would take off the 4 patch squares, working at the machine, and quickly replace them in the correct position. Shouldn't take too long.

0tis 02-03-2011 04:01 PM

I think either way it will look nice - but if you rip it out - just take the ones that need to be flipped - it probably wouldn't take much time and then you will be happy..

amma 02-03-2011 05:46 PM

(((HUGS))) I feel your pain... I have a UFO waiting for a bunch of frogging  :D:D:D

SnowQuilt 02-03-2011 07:06 PM

It looks nice the way it is, I wouldn't rip it out.

Kitsapquilter 02-03-2011 07:19 PM

Well, I have looked and looked and I don't see that you need to do any ripping. All your blocks are alike so who is gonna know if they aren't according to the pattern. Looks fine to me...unless you just can't live with it!!

Jim 02-03-2011 08:02 PM

If you turn the center block around ..your blues and reds line up they would just be going in the opposite direction of the pattern..thats much better than all that ripping out...nothing wrong with allowing the red and blue going opposite directions...pattern is still the same

caliquocat 02-03-2011 10:17 PM

It took me a while but finally figured out what you were saying. It's a lovely quilt, you'll be happy you made it right.

selfhunter 02-04-2011 04:18 AM

I would leave it as is, I like it

Suzi 02-04-2011 05:04 AM

There is no problem - welcome to the World of Design!

amorerm 02-04-2011 06:40 AM

Rip and flip the center strip....Fewer blocks to fix.

Drew 02-04-2011 07:00 AM

Been there, Done that! I'd switch the four patches, also.

Donna P 02-04-2011 07:53 AM

Oh no that's such a shame to have to rip...nice colors tho.

PunkQuilter 02-04-2011 09:12 AM

I would get out my trusty seam ripper and have a do-over. No one will know, but I would know, and every time I looked at that quilt that's all I would see.

grandme26 02-04-2011 02:54 PM

Will send seam ripper and cheers to push you on.

IDquilter 02-04-2011 03:29 PM

This pattern is really great, can't wait to see yours done.

Latrinka 02-04-2011 04:20 PM

awe, i hate when that happens! :?

Marilynsue 02-04-2011 04:34 PM

If that were mine (thank goodness it's not) I would feel compelled to tear off the 4 patches and re-sew them where they belong. It is going to be a beauty when done. Good luck to you!

Karo 02-04-2011 04:38 PM

Don't rip at all...just change or make remaining blocks to match the 18 you have already done

cavmom 02-04-2011 05:02 PM

oh crap - that is something i would have done and realized too late after a whole pile is finished! I like the opinion of some that you should just make it your own block, but it would probably make me crazy knowing how it should be so i would be seam ripping!
