Thanks to the generous and wonderful Bonnie Hunter, I dove into scrap quilting the first time with her Orca Bay Mystery and completed that last year. This year, I followed along her Easy Street Mystery, had a wonderful time, and created my favorite quilt to date. Best part? The quilt was made 100% from my stash! I did use different colors from Bonnie's, even though I love them, just because I had an abundant of my favorite orange and yellow fabrics and thought I should use them. Added blue and light brown and wallah! A happy quilt that I call Spring Melody! Bonnie's Easy street is a larger square quilt. I wanted to make a throw quilt and prefer rectangle quilts for that, so I omitted a row on each side and designed an applique border for top and bottom-machine appliques to end up with a 65x80 throw quilt that covers me from head to toe with enough to spare..I can even share with DH:) This is my second scrappy quilt and I am feeling an addiction coming on! I am starting to think in FQs lol. I even utilized the scraps from the scrappy quilt ,haha, to make runners and pillows for the living room. I will start another thread to post pics of these ( I have many and excited to share lol). Thanks all and happy quilting!

beautiful quilt! I agree that scrappy quilts are addicting .... and look different each time I make one. Welcome to the club!
Wonderful quilt! And don't forget to send photos to Bonnie Hunter's website 'Quiltville.com'.
She's so pleased to see people's versions of her offerings. |
That does not look like a scrappy quilt at all. Beautiful work.
Congratulations on making a beautiful quilt with just our stash!
Very nice quilt, the design is great.
Beautiful Quilt.
Being pretty new to the quilt world I figured "scrappy" meant rough and ragged. Boy was I wrong! That is beautiful :)
I love it! The border is great addition!
oh yes, I will agree, you definitely got the hang of it. Beautiful work!
It certainly is a happy quilt. I love the colors. Yellow and orange often get a bad rap and you have proven how great they look.

simply beautiful! i love your colors and fabric selection and your border addition just really makes it that much extra special too! bonnie hunter's easy street is also on my to-do-list. Your quilt has inspired me to make it once I finish the mystery quilt and one UFO that I'm working on now.

Gorgeous!!!
very nice quilt and quilting
Nicest Easy Street I have seen. Great job.
I have to agree with that assessment. The color choices make it really special.
Your scrap quilt is beautiful. Scrap quilts are Soooo addicting!
So many pieces! Beautiful job!
Your quilt is fabulous. I also like the combination of yellow and orange. When I was in art school the instructor said that orange is the least liked color on the color wheel and those that do like the color orange are very stable and creative personalities. I don't know how true that is, but I am glad you like those colors as your creations are so wonderful.
Your quilt is beautiful. I really like the colors you've used. Soft but with a punch of orange. Nice work!
Lovely quilt!
You did a great job on your lovely quilt.
Beautiful! What I don't understand is how do you get so many scraps large enough to make it look as though it's not even a scrap quilt.
You did a wonderful job and really made the Easy Streat pattern your own. Congrats!
Very nice quilt. Bonnie will be very pleased with your interpretaton.
Interesting pattern, great job using from your stash. :)
Beautifully done, I love the birds too!
I love Bonnie Hunter's patterns. I got introduced to her scrappy methods last year when I took two of her workshop
back to back. I completed Star Struck and and over half way through with My Blue Heaven. I did Christmas Lights and am almost through with Easy Street (I lack putting the borders on). I confess that I have been buying my scraps and then using what I have in my stash. Maybe |
Very beautiful and I love the top and bottom borders!
It is indeed a happy quilt. Just what we needed to see when we are waiting for spring.
